I must recommend the Mighty Scan.

I currently use four of them in my show. 250 Watts each, 20 some gobos, and 20 some colors, topped off with a very fast shutter, and some very nice stepper motors.

What makes the Mighty Scan so ideal is that it is ultra compact and plays huge. They do weigh 28 pounds a piece, which isn't a big issue, but it does surprise people sometimes.

Small club, big club...they look fantastic! I have put them up against other very expensive intelligent fixtures, and they hold their own very well. They also match the Rosco colors just about dead on, which allows me to integrate them with my par scenes even better.

Unfortunately, they have been discontinued, but the good news is that there are still many out there.

These things run like champs! I've read many other posts from people who use them and wouldn't give them up for anything.

Just my thoughts though.

Yea if you can find some mighty scans get them, i run them and they are fantastic, they can do so much for the size/price, great value light, i also run djscan250s, if u are on a tight budget these are cheap ($200ea.) and u dont really have to program them, Movement is expremly choppy though, good for fast songs, if u want something that can move smooth and slow, these arnt for you. Also look into the scan 250s alittle bit more expensive than the djscan250s but they seem to have really smooth movement.

Are you looking for a controller as well? If so, has it been considered into the budget?

Another thing is being able to transport the lights and controller. Factory boxes won't last too long, and I don't recommend it in the first place. Consider a nice road case or two for the lights and controller.

Is your setup mobile? You might also consider the Pocket Scans. They are pretty bright for 100 watts. Having all 4 on will draw 400 watts instead of 1000 watts. Remember that a 15 amp plug only has 15amps x 110volts = 1650 watts. And if your running 16 pars as well, plus amps, PA and whatever else might be on (differet plugs but still) the same circuit. I tripped a breaker at a show this weekend w/ my lights. Whoops... Pockets also have a pretty decent case that holds 4.
Here is a pic of mine w/ a 250 watt DJ Scan next to them so you can judge brightness:

The scans are to the right, the spot is on the left.
