Hi Folks,

I'm a newbie and hoping you can help me out. I just bought a pair of Revo I's that I want to use for a party in auto-sound mode. I plan to set one as a master and the second as a slave so they synch up nicely. The problem I have is that unless the master is directly in front of a speaker, it doesn't seem to respond to sound at all. Is it possible to run an audio line directly into the Revo I (perhaps via the 1/4" remote control jack?) rather than use the built-in microphone? Failing that, is there a way to set the sound level/sensitivity of the Revo I?

On the bottom of the unit there is a rotary knob (directly under the lens) - does anybody know what this is for? It does not seem to do anything, and is not addressed at all in the Owner's Guide.

Also, is there any documentation on what can be done with the dip switches? Again, the Owner's Guide doesn't discuss what the various dip switch settings do, other than Switch 1 for Master/Slave/Auto-Sound mode.

One last question, I also have a pair of American DJ LED Beam Scan LED's coming in later this week. Can they operate as slaves in conjunction with the Revo I master, or do they require an identical model as master (e.g. another LED Beam Scan)?

Thanks in advance for your help. Smiler

The rotary knob is your sound sensitivity (and I believe it should be labled as such). Did you buy the revo's used? I have never had a problem with them picking up sound on a stand about 8' above and behind the speakers. If you bought them used. The mic may be gunked up, and need to be cleaned. Do they both not respond well to the music? If one pics up better, use that one as the master.

And syncing to the Beam Scan will not accomplish anything. The master slave is to run the same effects in the same pattern at the same time.

I hope that helps a little.
Hi Stevie Ray,

Thanks for getting back to me. Both Revo I units were purchased brand new in sealed boxes from ProSoundDepot ( http://www.prosounddepot.com/ ). There are no stamped or printed markings on or near the black rotary knob to indicate what it is for, and no reference to it in the Owner's Guide.

I just opened the second unit and tested it, it performs the same as the first - when the unit is within 3 or 4 feet of the speaker it responds to sound, any further and it just loops through a boring "test pattern".

I tried turning the knob both clockwise and counterclockwise (I would assume clockwise would be to increase sensitivity and counterclockwise to decrease sensitivity) but it had no effect on sensitivity.

I'm really curious if this rotary knob really does anything. It turns greater than 360 degrees, I would think if there were a rotary switch or control attached to it that at some point you would hit a max/min turning stop point.

I really wish these units had a line-in jack that could be used instead of the open mic.

So back to the dip switches, does anybody know what can be configured/controlled using them? We know dip switch #1 is for master/slave/sound mode setting, but what about the rest of them?

PS: Thanks for the info about syncing the LED Beam Scan with the Revo's. I figured that was probably the case, and that you need to chain "like units" in master/slave mode - but like I said, I'm a newbie and I figured I should ask rather than assume anything. Smiler
