Hey guys, I just received my Revo 4, after nearly 2 months of waiting... happy as can be to finally have it...

I have a question about the patterns... in anticipation of receiving this light, I saw the youtube video that ADJ put out a few times... I feel like mine is missing some of the patterns that the video had...

The arrows pointing around for one, and the part where random single color LEDs are lit all over the square... There also looks like a snake pattern that starts at the bottom and gets smaller as it rises to the top.

I sat and watched it on sound mode for a solid 15 minutes just waiting, thinking that it would eventually happen... is there any way to get these patterns to show up?

I connected to 4 channel DMX and found that a bit limiting. Then I tried the 256 channel DMX and found it overwhelming... but it did make me wonder if a program like MyDMX has something on it to help control each individual LED so I could create my own patterns or even spell out words?

My question is first: am i missing patterns? Was this product updated and excluding some of the ones from the demo video?

Second... is there a computer program to help me program my own sequencing chases to control each individual LED on the 256 channel DMX?

I just started into lights this year, a pair of pocket scans last summer, 2 galaxian lasers, 1700hd fogger, now this revo 4... I absolutely love the new stuff coming out... thanks so much for all you do!

Computer control:

Yes, there is, but it is NOT specific to the Revo 4. MyDMX is a cost-effective DMX controller for lighting. Not sure if there is a 256 channel profile. I use MyDMX, but it's not on the computer I am using right now.

The video you saw said the unit was going through each program, so there ya go. The rest might be some customized stuff. I suppose if you have the time, you can do a lot with the Revo 4 with MyDMX. Once I redo my DMX universe, I would have 265 channels to burn, but I am not wasting that many channels on one fixture, that's all I'm gonna say about that! With 8 64 LED Pros, 4 Mega Bar 50's, 4 Mega Panels, and a future 8 Elation Opti Tri Pars, and more LED fixtures on the way, I should still have plenty of channels open. I am planning to get a Revo fixture soon as they are super affordable, mainly to add more color and splash to the twice a year rave event I do. I am replacing my non-LED fixtures with the LED equivalents(with DMX whenever possible) and spreading out the light show over. I plan to put a tree in each corner with something in it so we got stuff happpening everywhere.

I'm also trying to get rid of my dimmer packs or at least find a way to cost-effectively get LED bulbs for my Par38's.

Getting back to your issue of software control, again, go to the ADJ Home page and go find MyDMX. You can try it forever for free, but if you actually want to use it as an actual controller, when you BUY it, you receive a hardware USB dongle that provides the DMX interface. What is cool is not only can you try before you buy, but it won't expire and you are free to design with or without the dongle plugged in, so that might be a good motivator for you to check out the MyDMX product. It's also very easy to use.

Also, in regards to the bad LED: Well, you can sent it to service, the folks there are great, all my service jobs, as few as they have been, have been excellent. Considering you had to wait what seemed to be forever, I'm thinking returning to the place of purchase might not be a viable option. Worse case is you're out the cost of shipping, but that's the cost of doing business.
Thanks Chris...

I did call, and service was great. Oddly enough before I packed it up, I tested it again and the missing one was back on? Not sure if the interal program just needed reset by leaving it unplugged for a while or what...

I didn't realize I could download the program and use it to check it out... I'm definitely going to try that.

I appreciate all the input!

I recently had some problems with 3 64 LED Pros. One of the three had an inconsistency similar to what you described with the LED coming back. I'd give your light a "workout", maybe run it for a few hours, stress it out a bit and see if it stays off or on. Not to knock ADJ products, but I would see if you can replicate the problem and stay in the mindset of sending it in anyways. It's probably just a bad or loose solder joint. That was the problem with my three units. I do agree, the service department is great.

Yes, you can download and try indefinately the MyDMX product. BUT: you have to BUY the hardware to be able to control a fixture. Also, please take into consideration that the 3D Visualizer, as handy as it is, doesn't show patterns or macros for the most part. It's still a good product.
