Hey.
Just got a Revo 4 a few days ago. This is my first light.
Have a couple questions.
1: How to turn the unit off. I don't see a power switch so do you just unplug it?
2: When i have "sund" or sound mode where it goes to the music, it only lasts a few min then cuts out. How do i get it to last through a whole gig? And to be able to change the displaces you have to click the up or down arrow on the back. Is there any way to get it to do this by it's self?
3: I don't have DMX yet but are all the other folders besides sound activate used for and by DMX?

Powering off:

The Revo 4 is a DMX capable fixture. DMX fixtures will typically support some sort of function to have them turn themselves "off". By off, I don't mean power off, but rather "do not output light and be in an idle state". Not having an on/off switch is not an indicator of poor quality. Some have it, some don't. Most of the higher end fixtures will have a switch.

Since you're using this in sound active mode, you may wish to turn up the sensitivity. Sound active mainly responds to low end energy: big bass booms. Also, since you're in stand-alone mode, you may wish to see if there is a setting to cycle through programs, otherwise, you'll need manual intervention as you've done or go DMX. Read your manual to see if sound active is supported in DMX mode. You might want to see what the optional UC3 remote controller will give you some control over.

Sound active ideally should NOT cut out after a few minutes.

What does DMX control? It depends on what the designer chose to support via DMX. Read your manual, it will spell it out for you.
I just got a Revo 3 and called to see what zero on the adjustment for sound active mode does. I was told that the zero goes thru all the pre programed modes. The manuel says select (on mine) 1-12 Nothing about zero So try zero and see if it goes thru lots of modes. Just set it up and tap the back.
I think DJ Ell might be of the "Drive by" type of user.

Now, when you go to that ZERO position, how did this appear to go through all the pre-programmed modes? My main question really is, based on your observations, did it appear that the fixture goes through more internal programs than you have access to via DMX?

Also, if you can recall, any particular ones stand out as a bit more exiting or useful?
I take it you're not using this with fog at that party, did you? Only reason I am asking is that I'm looking at the Revo series mainly for this rainbow beaming type effect.

A lot of red. That doesn't sound appealing. I'd want to see a bit more variety.

But the unit was cycling through patterns, right?
Played with the Revo 3 in sound mode set @ Zero.
It goes thru all the programs it has and looks great. The red I mentioned b4 was one series that had lots of red in it. The others have greens, blue, white and many in between patterns that look pretty good. I'll use it this weekend on sound mode Zero and I'll keep a eye on it. Also will be using my new Vizo LED Spots with dmx. Playd with them today for a while, love them. The 3&5 prizms are Kewl.
