Hello guys,

Wondering if someone can help me.

My Revo 4 dosn't seem as bright as it should be, i have other lights that cost half the price that easily over power it. The other light in question is an Equinox Rapture and i can believe that a light that cost me £99 is much more powerful than one that cost £200.

The light is only a couple of months old.

Anyone tell me what i am doing wrong or if i need to change a program on the revo 4 to increase the brightness of these LED's

Even the Revo 3 is much brighter.

Thanks
Scott

Not to go off on a side note, but:

One must take into consideration feature set, functionality and capability into the pricing structure.

So, a $200 fixture could outperform a $300 fixture, but I bet that $300 fixture has more goodies in it and better electronics. Even if we compare DMX to DMX fixtures, we might be talking about better components and/or embedded programming.

A regular Par64 will smoke the ADJ 64 LED Pro(and I love these lights). Regular par cans are CHEAP!! But we're not talking like for like fixtures either.

My suggestion is to see if they'll let you open up multiples and choose the brightest.

Isn't there some sort of affordable meter we can all buy and carry around to measure brightness? As our eyes are all unique and subjective devices prone to errors, having such a measuring unit would resolve "apparent brightness" debates.

(now everyone knows what I'm looking for today!)
Hiya,

Sorry for the late response, ihave been on holiday Smiler no where nice, just camping with the misses and kids Smiler.

I have emailed my local dealer where i purchased this from and will let you know how this goes.

On a side note, whilst i was camping, a local venue also had 2 of these units installed on there rig and they were 10 times brighter than mine.

I also take the point on parts and internal workings from Chris, but when it comes down to it, most people buy these higher priced units such as the ADJ revo 4, on the pretence that they are going to be better than the cheaper units in every way, but i fail to see how a unit costing £100 less (not dollars) can function much better.

Cheers folks.

Brightness is also relative. What may appear dim at one location may be fine at another location. Without comparing your fixture with suspected brightness issues head to head with one that you claim is brighter, well, it's not a fair assessment.

At that rig where you were staying, did you in fact confirm those were the exact same fixtures? If someone were not to know, these could be the older Revos, that use conventional bulbs. Those would easily be brighter than your LED ones. And if one didn't know much about the Revo lights, how would they know it's the REVO LED series instead of the older series? Just depends on what the people running the stuff do or don't know. My crew doesn't really know crap about what I'm running, but they know how to set it and ensure it does run. They know what is LED and what isn't but they don't know models and brands.

LED technology is dropping in price, but not fast enough, and the traditional technology that has been used(non-LED sources) is significantly cheaper, to sometime the tune of $100, but not $155.98(based on currency conversion rate at the time of this posting, based on a working number of £100 as the reference).

Better examples of this are LED movers that use like a 20-watt LED element, and are otherwise the same as their conventional counterpart(using color wheels for color instead of RGB tri-color mixing), the LED will cost more, mainly because of the LED technology, lower power draw as a result, and the theoretical lower overall cost of ownership due to not having to change lighting elements.

My suggestion is to bring it back to the place of purchase and have it go head to head with other IDENTICAL lights and see what's going on.

This is what I like about the LED fixtures I've been buying: Infinite colors from one fixture and low power draw.

If I can't do my big buy soon, I'm going to have to buy more lesser-equipped ADJ fixtures to fill in the gaps, at least temporarily. I wonder if maybe I should double up on the 64 LED Pros just for more light into the same spot. Lots to think about, but I still need those Elation Opti Tri Pars, just my finances keep getting boned and I can't get the lights I need to grow my business properly, and it's now driving me out of business.
