Some of you know that our forum member "DJ Hypnotiq" is serving in the U.S. military in Iraq. American DJ/American Audio gives respect and a big thanks to DJ Hypnotiq for serving our country. We wish him a safe tour of duty in Iraq.

Here is a press release we put together on Hynotiq (AKA US Army Spc. Corey Johnson)...

American DJ Teams Up With American GI In Iraq Company Sends Gear To Soldier-DJ, Will Sponsor Welcome Home Party

LOS ANGELES -- DJ Corey Johnson is planning to throw quite a party later this year with some help from his friends at American DJ. The 26-year-old Bronx native has rented a hall, arranged for food and decorations, and even lined up some guest DJs from Germany to provide the entertainment. Johnson and his fellow guests will have plenty to celebrate. Theyll be partying to mark the return of their US Army unit to Germany after an extended tour of duty in Iraq.

Johnson, who is also known as DJ Hypnotiq in civilian life, has been serving proudly in Iraq since March 2004 -- but still, hell be glad when his tour of duty ends. Looking ahead to that date, Johnson came up with the idea of holding a party to celebrate and honor the service of his fellow soldiers.

When American DJ learned of Johnsons planned Welcome Back Event, the company quickly volunteered to help out by donating invitations, banners and other promotional material at no charge. Much to its pleasure, the company also learned that Johnson had recently purchased an American Audio Pro Scratch 2, and was using the CD player to entertain troops and hold DJing classes in Iraq.

Inspired by what Johnson was accomplishing, American DJ has also donated gear to the DJing GI. "Were very happy to help Corey," said Scott Davies, general manager of the American DJ Group of Companies. "Hes a brave and remarkable young man, and were touched by the way hes brought his music with him to Iraq to make a difference in the lives of other soldiers."

Johnson has been DJing for nine years. "The first time I put my hands on some turntables was at a community basketball game in my building project," he recalled. "From then on, I couldnt keep my hands off them. I eventually became the "project DJ." I used to do house parties for different people. I never got paid for them. It was more than about money for me. I found out that through playing music, I could express myself in ways no one understood, but only me. To me, music is my life. "

About two years ago, Johnson said he "started becoming a digital DJ." He now prefers digital to turntable, because "you can do more," but is quick to add, "I will not knock vinyl because thats where I came from." Johnsons personal favorite DJs include Grand Master Flash, Kid Capri, DJ Red Alert, DJ Green Lantern, Funk Master Flex, DJ Epps, DJ Gerald and American Audio endorser DJ Skilz.

For now, Johnson is honing his own DJing skills during his free time in Iraq, and appreciating the escape it provides. "Music puts me in a place that is happy and wonderful," he said. American DJ is proud to be a part of that special, welcoming place that Corey Johnson and his music are creating against the backdrop of war in Iraq.

Anyway...Thanks for showing your support and I appreciate all the help you and the rest of the ADJ family has done. See you April 8th.
Well Hypnotiq I'm back over here (Iraq) for my third tour. I decide to bring my laptop to do some computer djing. Turns out the re-center has weekly Hip Hop dance for us so I might try to get in where I fit in. I sure would love to have my system but when it comes to having them out here ...well I just would hate to have to replace them because of somekind of accident or something. Sounds like your party will be off the hook with Skilz and the whole crew. Man you are lucky for that one. Definitely post some pics of that. I can't wait till I'm back on the WESTSIDE chillin in San Dog again. Be safe man I know I will be. Cool

You as well have my respects for what your doing. You & Hypnotiq are extremely brave in my book, and i wish the both of you a safe return home.

Tigrsharc1 is there anyway you can attend the Event on April 8th? It would be very cool to see you there too. [/qb]
I wish I could go but I have some months to go before we are done. We are just getting started again. We are pretty much up and running now. On my free time I mix my tunes on my laptop. It is different...less hands on but I can work on something different. Post pics when it all goes down for the party. Thanks to everyone who supports us. Sometimes you feel like people have lost sight of why we are here or have forgotten the military. I get on here and you guess speak loud and clear about how much you care. This makes being out here worth it. I plan on doing my 20 yrs plus and retire, but with that I will have several systems to play mobile gigs and knowledge to both work in the clubs and the road. We are already working the issues out for our Marine Corps Ball in November and yes I will be spinning again. I voted myself to do it last year and everyone agreed. This year they ask me well in advance so I'm there. i will be around the forum as much as I can to see what is going on. Later to all from the dirt. Cool

Hey Hypnotic, its nice to know that there is another DJ with that name...LOL...anyway, thanks for the support....But I love what I do, and I love supporting this great country we call America. April 8th is tommorrow, and I just cant wait for this event. I'm kinda nervous that many people won't attend but I know if skilz is there people will follow, as well as many troops. I always get nervous when big events happen. I am pretty sure it will off the chain....I'll be sure to put pics on. SO IF ANYONE IS IN GERMANY...PLEASE FEEL FREE TO SUPPORT THE U.S TROOPS IN THIS WELCOME BACK JAM!!!!
