I play in a "geezer rock" band. The music is by geezers and for geezers. And we are quite proud of it....after all, we could be sitting at home watching reruns of The Price Is Right, sipping Ensure and wearing Depends.....and drooling, don't forget the drooling. Razzer

So, anyway, for those who keep up with my once every six month inquires on this forum.....My band currently uses eight Par 38 cans on two LTS-1 tripods.

We also have some older "no name" T stands that we mount four ADJ Simple Scans (we use these for the audience, not the band). We control the Simple Scans with the push button controller that came with them.

We run the Par 38 cans with an older ADJ DMX-512 board and a pair of older DP-DMX20 dimmers. According to our light/soundman, the controller and dimmer packs are full. He does not believe we could even add additional dimmers to expand our lighting.

He owns all of the lighting gear except for the Simple Scans which are mine. I also own a pair of ADJ Wild Flower II lights (out of production). Since I have only used the Wild Flower lights three or four times, I may end up selling those to help fund the other parts of this "upgrade".

I am starting some side projects to stay busy, so I now want to develop my own "light package" that I can use with my "second band" and my sound system rentals.

So, with that above information, here comes the questions:

I anticipate that most of the time, the lighting I will be running will be controlled from "on stage" by a musician who will be playing an instrument, thus no hands free to operate the lights.

I am considering the ADJ T16F to control my Par 38 cans I plan to purchase. I would like to be able to run up to six or even eight Par 38 cans. Is this possible with one T16F or will I not be able to run that much with a single pack?

I plan to have a custom footswitch made that will utilize sturdier materials than the plastic "on/off" control for the Simple Scans unless someone knows an existing control footswitch that ADJ offers that would work for my needs.

Next, I am of the understanding that you can purchase extra 5 foot "I-Beam" sections for the LTS-50T. However, I contacted one dealer who could not find the part number. In the meantime, I checked the ADJ online catalog and could not find one either.

Can someone provide that part number and a source? Or can any ADJ dealer have one drop shipped to me if they have the correct part number?

Here are my current LOW COST goals...and low cost is the operative issue...

For my current band, I would like to put the LTS-50T across behind the band with four Par 38 cans located on the truss for me to control from onstage.

I would use the "T" bars on the LTS-50T to mount the Simple Scans and control those devices from onstage with a foot switch as well.

For use with my "second band" that I am now forming, I would like to move the LTS-50T with the three piece truss to the front of the stage area. I would plan to put the lights in roughly the same configuration. But, I would like to add some additional Par 38 lights.

I plan on placing two Par 38 cans on each of the T bars along with two of the Simple Scans. I also plan on leaving four Par 38 cans on the 3 pieces of I beam. (I do not anticipate putting ANY light on the center section of I-beam truss. Thus keeping the stress and weight on that section to a minimum.)

I really enjoyed the information presented by Top Dog in the thread titled "Question about Par cans". His advice seemed very practical and easy to follow.

However, the reason I am still concidering Par 38 cans over his recommended Par 46 or 56 is his comments about the 15 amp AC electric service.

Many of the local clubs I plan to play with the "second band" will only have two breakers for the entire band. Three stage amps for instruments, two power amps for the PA, eight Par cans and who knows what else.....I want to keep the total power demand as low as I can.

Your advice and input is welcome. I reserve the right to ignore it completely. After all, I am a cranky old geezer. Smiler

Gotta run...band rehearsal with number 1 band in 20 minutes.

The question Tony asked is not a service issue and should not reflect on our ability to provide customer service. It is a sales issue that should be addressed to your local dealer. The item model number is LTS50-IBEAM, they are in stock at this moment, the price is $59.95 and any dealer can order one for Tony.
