I currently own both an American DJ Mystic and Majestic light and was considering purchasing a DMX controller for them. However, I was curious as to whether or not, in their DMX controlled mode of operation, they can still be setup so as to be sound activated. In other words, does operating the fixtures with a DMX controller completely prevent me from being able to use the sound-activated functions of the lights? While I would like to be able to set up scenes and chases and whatnot, it would just be nice to be able, for instance, to have one scene where the lights revert to using their sound activated capability. Any help anyone can offer would be appreciated.

The ADJ Mystic is a sound-active non-DMX fixture. You need to control this via a DMX Dimmer/switcher pack set to switch on that channel.

If you're talking about the newer Mystic LED, read the manual. And it appears it doens't support this in DMX mode.

You'd be advised to run in sound active mode and use a dimmer/switching pack with that channel set to switching mode for that channel if yo want sound active functionality.
Hi all,

Thanks for the information and the welcome. To clarify, I was indeed talking about the Mystic LED and not the original Mystic. Apologies for the lack of specificity.

The information you all gave was very useful and confirmed what I had thought. I had looked at the manuals, but wasn't 100% sure that I was interpreting them correctly because of my lack of experience with DMX programming. I was glad to hear the correct interpretation from some well versed folks such as yourselves.

Thanks again, and have a good weekend!
