Hey all, just a quick question.

When you buy an intelligent fixture it comes with pre-made programs so it can do stand-alone or Master/Slave operation...but how good are the internal scenes?

*Do they even come close to showing off what the light is capable of?

*Did people take time to do nice scenes or are they just "thrown together"?

*If you have a board like the operator, how do you get the programs that are contained in something simpler like the Automate? Since it comes with scenes that I assume are different from the internal ones, how can you get them out? Can you download them somewhere?

Hopefully these aren't too many questions for one post. Thanx again.

Jer.

As far I am concened, I believe that the internal programs are great. Fomr the standpint of a dj, they probably don;t show off all of the things a light can do as if it were programmed manually, but to your guests who don;t really have a clue what the light is, their amazed anyways!

The mighty scans have some internal scenes but the sound activated programs really do not show off the potential of your fixtures. Get a DMX operator and you will be surprised all the cool things the lights are capable of doing.

Programming will take some time getting used too but it is well worth it. Once you got some movement scenes programmed into the operator you can set them to chase with a "tap sync" button. From there you can manually change colors, gobos, and strobe settings. The coolest effect is making the scanners scroll through the gobos and colors at a slow speed. If you are going to spend the money to buy good intelligent lights, invest in a programmable DMX controller. You will be amazed the the capabilities of your lighting.
