Hi J,

Ok, lights have arrived (just waiting fro Opto 4).. I am sitting down with my DMX.

1. I only have 1 RGB in generic and its 3channel, is that correct?

2. Also, i noticed the 7ch megapanel shows up as a line i the 3D visualiser, is that coorrect?

PS dj shop just told me a dmx lead is the same as amic lead, is that correct?

Thanks again
ohh ok. lol. Maybe I should call that DJ shop and straighten them out then? Yes the 3 pin connectors are the same however the data stream is not as one is for AUDIO and one if for DMX. Some people are stuck with the "Well it has 3 holes and 3 pins in the same spot so it fits so it MUST be right" mentality. however this couldn't be further from the truth. I have seen it myself where mic cable was used and in some cases it could even damage your fixtures.

Here is a updated profile. http://db.tt/XgKUTH7
Download it and put it in windows, my computer or just computer, c drive, my dmx folder, scan library folder, American DJ folder, mega series folder. And that's where it goes.
Sincerely,
Thanks for clarifying J, I will definitely take your advice

I did what you said, downloaded the and copied the profile over.. When i opened the 3D visualiser, its still shows the same 'line' on screen (tried to attach a screenshot to explain but can't).. do i have to re-install the visualiser?

Thanks again
It is best to just keep it at a square panel that glows color. The reason is if i change the panel to show a beam the beam i believe will come out the side of the 3D object. lol. Or if you don't really mind I can modify the profile just for you to show a large par can and a huge beam angle and then you'll have your beam showing in the 3D.

The built in color programs will not show in the 3D as the 3D will show real time DMX values being manipulated. And since the built in color chases are not being done by the dmx values in my dmx instead they are being done by the internal circuits inside the fixture the 3D will not know how to properly display it therefore those built in chases and color macros will not be shown in the 3D.
Make sense? Let me know if you have any more questions.
your not being a pain at all. Smiler
Sincerely,
yes, totally understand.

Yes, I dont mind it looking like a par car, just wanted to show potential customers what the uplighting effect they choose may look like.

PS are there any more Objects to download for the visualiser i.e. a projection screen etc, Can I make my own in photoshop and save them as a certain file extension. Thanks again
Phil sure I can change the profile and send it to you a bit later on today.

There is a HUGE 3D object library built into the software. If you go to construction mode and click on the gray 3D box, if you mouse over it it says add 3D object(s). Once you do that you have several folder to look in for objects from sound system speakers to people to drum sets to computers, plasma TV's, screens, even a mock up of a liquor bar, etc. Just dig around.
no you cannot make your own stuff in photoshop. you would need some other sort of 3D file creation software.
Sincerely,
See the reason that 4 channel is kinda tricky is you have ch2a, ch 2b, ch 3a, etc. it's a bit of a tricky one to figure out. So I'll make channel one and then channels 3-4 RGB. I'll try to have this for you by the end of the day tomorrow. got kind of a list of things to do and soon. Smiler
Sincerely,
Also please you do not need to use the () when linking me manuals.
ha thats why i asked you to do as it was confusing me too. The guy in the DJ shop told me they were exactly the same fixture, damn salesman hey..

Will have a look at the youtube channel to see if its easy to design your own (its nearly midnight here in liverpool so I will see how i get On james)
Ya even if i made the profile for you in 4 channel mode. It either wouldn't look right in the 3D when using the a or b channels or if i made it that way you would lose color mixing functions. Why not just use them in 12 channel mode and use 4 sets of RGB fixtures. If you need i can make you a generic smaller par can size type fixture instead of a bar. Let me know.
Sincerely,
Unfortunately no. Those are only available in 4 channel mode. however in 12 channel mode you can make your own chases and sequences. besides using the built in macros is like using someone else's programming and that's how you get fired from being a LD in some places. Smiler lol
if you really want 4 channel I'll figure something out. So let me know 4ch or 12ch. Smiler
Hi J

I have added the 11 extra megapanels to my rig. I first started using MYDMX in nov 2008 and i use the 7ch mode as you know so i can access certain macros i like and the sound to light etc.. When I add the panels to the existing show (add on the 11 panels i mean) they pick up the RGB but not the macros, strobe, dimmer etc..

Any ideas, I am a little flumixed here :-/
Hi Jongles, sorry for the confusion.. just to help clarify, I have:-

6 x ADJ megapanels bought 2008
2 x ADJ megapanels bought 2008
9 x ADJ megapanels NEW
4 x Lanta (megapanel)

I already programmed a full show using the megapanel 7ch profile (colours, pre-programmed effects, strobing etc). So I logically thought by adding another 9 fixtures to my setup, they would react like the others i.e. i programmed the fixtures to emulate the current show.. I noticed straight away that when I moved the RGB controllers the light came on (in 7ch mode the 7th channel is the dimmer and this was set to off). Channel 4 is the effects channel where you access a slowd dream effect for eg. the new fixtures do not recognise channels 4-7.. does this help you understand? Thanks
