Hello all,
I am the proud owner of a pair of the above ref cans, and am generally impressed with what they can do. I am using them on the floor to provide some ambience to our 5 piece rock covers band and so far the reaction has been good .
I am trying to take the control a step further and have 2 queeries.
1, where do I find the RC sensor? as, If i run one can as a slave I want to control the lights without the risk of messing with the slave can settings by a random RC button press Smiler. Can I thus tape over the blighter Smiler
2, Mic sensitivity , this one has me a little baffled , as , if I place 2 cans side by side and have one set at sound active S01 it seems to have no discernable difference in reactions to the second can set at S31 , equidistant from noise etc . is there some subtlety that is passing me by or is the sensitivity a bit of a gimmick Wink , further, is there a way of providing a shielding to the mic to alter the sound getting in for further adjustment.

OK , I have done a few shows now and to be honest the RC issue can be overcome now that I have a good working knowledge of the cans , however , the sensitivity of the mic for the sound to light as a real pain in the a**e ( or is that a*s your side of the pond ! )
All I can get is pretty much a full light display as the program is bouncing araound at stupid speed .

So can anyone tell me is there a cheap sound to light module that I can set up to drive the things which I can get a light show from rather than such a manic display that it looks like they are on flood Frowner
While waiting for any suggestions I have done a little experiment , I have set up my desk with a drum machine plonking away at a steady rate and measured the sound levels at which point the lights start to respond.
both have very similar results as follows , cans are side by side at the same distance from the speaker and at the same orientation.
if I nominally set the volimes so that I can read the values of the fader on the desk . granted the desk fader is not calibrated to national standards but it will suffice for this experiment Smiler

with the light sensitivity at 31 ( most sensitive ) the lights flutter at -11db and dance at -10 db .
changing ONLY the sensitvity to read 01 least sensitive and the lights now flutter at -9db and dance at -8db , a differnce in sensitivity of effectively 2db with 30 steps in between Frowner . Am I missing something here or is the sensitivity a gimmick ???

I have tried differing drum patterns to see if the frequency is the driving force but I see no discernable evidence in that either . Are my cans unique in this matter or is the sensitivity adjustment not even worth the description ??
