OK, today, I was out at Fry's, trying to take care of stuff that I wanted to take care of Friday. Don't ask why it took until Sunday to do what I wanted on Friday, but that's how it goes around my house.

(For those of you not in the know, Fry's is a big ware-house/big-box store, focusing mainly on consumer electronics, but carries are large selection of computer components, electronic components and other stuff)

So, to ensure suport for a wireless presenter remote that someone is using, I bought one for myself. So, here it is, 00:30 on Monday morning, and I'm burned out from a marathon video editing session(that ain't over yet), and I just did cram some hardware into my main computer. I figure, "Hey, I wonder how well this remote will work with MyDMX".

Cue the box cuttr and I open up the packaging. Get the battery installed, plug in the USB wireless receiver dongle. I should have looked for a BlueTooth one, oh well, something for later. Anyhow, the results:

It works. I can step through scenes in a show file, as well as backwards.

And, the best part, if you're feeling ghetto, the one I bought has a laser pointer, so you can use it for your one tiny dot laser shows!

While not PERFECT, it does give me more options. I'm willing to bed just about any pointer would work. For my appplication, I am in fact stepping through scenes, so this presents a perfect option. For others, this may not be as good as of an idea.

Enough fun for now. I need to get some sleep. I have a long day involving my computer, FRAPS, and MyDMX, which by the way, is a wonderful combination if you want to make videos of your lightshows. I use this combination to help make animatics. I throw in some chromakey and other elements to make fully functional amimatics. This gives you yet another function and purpose for MyDMX. It takes what Jingles is doing to another level. However, I'm not trying to compete with Jingles. His efforts are for creativity, while mine are for testing and approvals for a live show.

Snagit is a good option for screen capture, but with version 10, it has some strange behaviors that weren't an issue in version 9.

Depending on how you want to do things, it's nice to have options. Really, for those of you debating the price of MyDMX, with all it CAN do and all you CAN do with it, it becomes more and more affordable each day.
