OK I have my scenes made

they are set to loop the # of times I want them to

when I go onto the playback mode they only work as 1 shot.

EG

I want pocketscan reg circles to loop 2x then move on to green random points 3x then go to xscan blue splotches octogon 2x

BUt they seem to just be working as a 1 shot then sitting there dead in the water instead of moving to the next scene.

You're not doing it right then.

You're basically chaining scenes. No big deal. You're doing this via the Edit Screen. You want to run your start of this series of chained scenes from the USER screen.

That's what your problem most likely is. You're just in the wrong page. This is a SUPER easy mistake to make. Think of the USER scren as the place to run your show from, white EDIT is for making shows, scenes or bits and pieces.

Another option you can do is to do this. It's a bit lengthy.

First, go make a copy of your your PocketScan Reg Circles Scene. Copy all the steps(highlight all, copy via the button), then move to the last existing step and PASTE steps. There, 2 loops. Boom. Done.
Now, go select your Green Random Points. Copy all those steps. Go back to the copied scene, select the last step and PASTE STEPS again. Go to last step, paste steps again and then go to the last step and paste steps again. Done. 3 Times.

Now, go to your Xscan Blue splotches octogon scne, copy all those steps. Go back to your copied scene select the last step, PASTE steps. Go to last step and PASTE again.

There ya go. Not quite as efficient but if you're using this a lot, this may be a handy thing to have around in your show file.

I'm not chaining any scenes like that, but that's no big deal. There's nothing wrong with what you're doing. If it works for you and you like how it looks, then it's all good.
I am on the user page, I'm used to a desk controller where I made

a bunch of scenes
then I could take those scenes and make a pattern

then I could program it to playback the patterns in whatever order I programmed it to do it in and loop through them I called those "shows" and could make shows on the fly

Can I do that in mydmx or does it all have to be preprogrammed?
I don't have MyDMX in front of me right now, but I never have these issues.

You can set your loops from the USER page. I think. For some reason, I feel you're supposed to set your loops from the EDIT page, as well as your "next". You then start your first scene via the USER page and it should do as you want.

The problem is as you've pointed out, you're used to doing this on a console. The console will see "this scene, then that scene" because that's how you're programming it. MyDMX, while still scene-based, is a bit different. Once you program your loops and next, you're a bit stuck with that unless you change them. So, it's not quite so "on the fly" friendly.

That's why, you might want to make some "chase sequence" scenes with your stuff all being dumped into single scenes, in addition to your already existing scenes.

Let's say for example, I use my Fast Strobe White, which goes for 2 seconds, then will NEXT over to "white wash" scene. I can then if I want to have it NEXT to rainbow random scene, then onto rotating gobos in blue making out of phase circles on the ceiling while I wash the stage in a light blue.

It can and does work. I think you're skipping a step somewhere.
