hey all to anybody who wants to know how the performance scan 250 runs and operates ask me anything. ok first of all man it is heavy! 24 lbs but it feels more than that! or im just a little weak. so the mirror movement is as smooth as butta baby! the colors are nice i like spliting uv purple with lime green. i haven't gotten any core programming done cause my joystick is almost junk! it is brand new out of the box(darn u.p.s.) any way moving on. the dimmer is a shutter dimmer(the bulb does not dim the shutter just blocks the path at a slow rate) but it does strobe kinda fast but the pulse effect is o.k. anyway this is a long post so any questions just post here or pm me if it is really long! thanks jingles out!

actually they are not all that expensive i got mine through a dealer for 329.00! so you should be able to pick one up even if you rob a guy in a suit!!!! p.s. the gobos are so so some of them i want to keep and some i want to throw away! the gobo rotation is a nice added function and is very awesome when i am smoking a cig. in the basement where my lights are. the split colors are kinda hard to split 50/50 but when you do get it it looks nice. anything else anybody else wants to know? also i am at some what of a dry spell if somebody could give me ideas as to cool stuff to try to program(nothing crazy) i would like that very much!
Just experiement with it. Most programming skill comes as a result of just playing with the fixture and controller for hours on end. You'll get to know the in's and out's of your controller as well as the fixture itself. Figuring out what is desireable and what is not ultimately rests in your personal tastes.

If you're really in need of a suggestion - try to make the beam move in a smooth circle. That can teach you a lot about your fixture and controller.

Other than that, just try to think outside the box and before you know it, you'll be programming scenes/chases that you would've never thought of before.
i sort of already have a circle programmed in. it was one of the first things i tried to do. it looks ok but i need to try to get it smoother.is it true that the more points you have in your circle the smoother it will be? so far i have 6. any other tricks to try? i need to watch my 3 doors down live dvd again. i am pretty good at doing fade sweeps! thanks for the info tech. anybody else chime in if you want to. jingles p.s. my light(performance scan)can def. do a circle but the controller(elation op.192 w/h joystick)i don't think can. it frustrates me! also i don't have the $$ to upgrade to a better controller now! it will be awhile. jingles out!
Lighting fixture under 10 pounds...hmm. I think that's what they call a par can. You can do gobos, one at a time. Colors, one at a time. 250+ watt bulb (halogen with reflector of course to save weight). DMX is the tricky part...hehe

I hear you guys about the weight issue. My Mighty Scans are small, but weigh 28 pounds a piece, and I travel with 8 of them, in two large rolling road cases. Easily 300+ pounds worth of gear all said and done.

I suppose it could be worse. 4 moving heads would probably weigh the same as 8 Mightys perhaps...
also the accu scans and spots weigh at least 40 lbs each! but anybody got any programming tricks??? please?? jon lopez said to try circles but i already have one. but the more points in a circle the smoother it will be? i was also told to try squares and triangles. i haven't had the chance yet but i might try to tonite. thanks everybody and keep the posts comin! hey bill the scan trons the newer ones only weigh 11 lbs. or is 1 pound over too much for ya? Wink
