Parts for X-Scan LED to X-Scan LED Plus?

Anybody know if it's possible to swap out a few parts to upgrade an X-Scan LED to the Plus version? Is it only the optical stuff that's different? If it's possible, would it make enough of a difference to make it worth the money and effort?

I'd appreciate any tips...
