It Depends on the bulb/reflector used in them but normally the bigger the par can the farther the throw/narrower the angle. I like the "Uni-par I think is what they call it." you can change the lens to change the beam spread REALLY bright too. 575 W halogen bulb W/ polished reflector. They are fairly compact compared to a P-64. You can always dim them down

For a small stage short throw, 46's or maybe even 38's will do you. .
ok thanks...but about the angle, mabey i wasn't clear...i meant to ask if you know how large the coverage area is dependant on the distace the light is away...for example:
When light is 10 feet from target-coverage area is 5 feet in diameter
When light is 20 feet from target-coverage area is 10 feet in diameter
ect.
do you know this ratio? or is it something i'd have to find out for myself
thanks

let me add-
i want to mix 4 diferent colors to make color washes on stage...my plan is to have a total of 8 lights on two T-bar stands. i want the two stands to be infront and to either side of the stage(15-20 feet from the stage)

|--------| X
| S |
| T |
| A |
| G |
|_____E__| X

(X=T-bar stand)

then i wanted to have four of the inside lights be no color lights that i can dim...no worries about the controller i have that all figured out...then i want the 4 most outside lights to be 4 different colors...green, blue, red, yellow...i want to be chase, mix, dim, and slowly strobe these. sonce there is only one of each color i need each one to cover the entire stage...this is why i would like to know how large of an area they cover.
any help on what light would work best for me would be helpful
