So I'm looking at getting some pars and I need to know what size to go for.

I'm hoping to use them for small to medium shows and use them as floor pars at corporate events.

I was thinking of getting smaller ones just to deal with power issues but I need to know what I'm really gona lose from going from a 46 to 56 to 64 and visa versa.

Also that dura truss system comes with two five foot sections, could I put another 5 feet on it ?

Thanks

I second the Par 56's. They get the job done very well. Shorter cans are good for tighter positioning options as well. Par 38's are also ideal for short throws.

I find Par 64's to be too big and cumbersome to deal with. I'd only consider using them if you were doing large-scale stage stuff. Par 64's are also designed for brighter lamps, which results in more power consumption.

I use par 46's as 'specials' to throw more concentrated points of light on stage. This in turn, allows you to throw light across the stage to a specific area without the beam opening up too much.

The type of lamp you put in the cans will also affect the results. Medium-floods, narrow spots, etc. are all different options (among others) to choose from.

Hope something helps.
