It's true I am a lighting noob and this was the main reason I went with the Stage Setter-8. I am also sure similar questions have already been asked but here we go anyway. Thanks in advance for your help.

I am having difficulty with the controller communicating with the dimmer packs. I believe my problem is either associated with the dip switch settings or something else that I am not doing correctly. Can anyone tell me what the dip switch settings are on pack1 and pack2 when using eight PAR cans, four on each stand tree?

Also, should the packs be daisy chained or should each use one of the lowZ outputs on the back of the controller?

The kit I bought was a re-furb so I suppose it could also be a problem with the gear. This I doubt though since there is so much I do not know about lighting.

Any basic help or links to help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jimmy,

Set DIP switch 1 On and the rest off for the first pack. On the second pack turn switch 3 and 1 on with the rest off. Yes, your packs should be daisy chained.

One thing that I seem to always forget on stage setters is that after the are turned off, when turned back on, the blackout button is enabled by default. So make sure the LED next to the blackout button is off. If it is on, simply hit the blackout button to turn it off. A simple thing, yet I always forget about it. Always makes for a quizzical, puzzled look.

Also make sure your masters are pushed up to 100%. This can be tricky because if your stage setter has an A and B submaster, then sometimes B is at full when it is all the way down. Just look at the labels on the board to make sure.

Try that and get back to us.

Hope this helps!
