Hello all, it's pretty cool to learn there is a DJ lighting forum. I've been doing some reading of the topics to get some real life information about what lights would be best to add to my band's stage on my limited budget.

I have an American DJ trilogy light that I let overheat and the motor no longer spins. This happened once before and American DJ fixed it, but now it's out of warranty. I have the light all apart and I cannot see anything wrong with the circuit board. The lights work and the motor will spin by hand. Oddly enough since I've had it apart inspecting it, I've plugged it in a couple times and the motor will spin for maybe a second and then quit again.

Based on this description does anyone have an idea how I can fix this light? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Thanks

So you can rotate the motor freely all the way around right?

Hmmm well its definitely the motor or the board, each costing $20-25 + shipping.

If you want to try to narrow it down, hook up a 9-volt battery to the motor via alligator clips and see if it spins a little or at least has resistance. If it does, chances are its the board and you can order a new one.

Good Luck!
