Hi all.

I recently purchased a handful of lights (Vertigo, Reflex, Laser Widow, Gobo-Flex) as well as a fog machine Fogstorm 700. I intend to use them in my home (just built a new addition with a bar for parties).

My question is this:

If I run the fog machine for a few hours once per week, is there any type of residue I have to worry about? I am concerned with ruining furniture, among other things (audio/video equipment, etc.) in my house. Is it possible that a Fog machine can do such damage?

Thanks!

Yes fog can leave a residue if it is concentrated enough. Thourough, regular cleaning might help with this. I'm not sure if fog can ruin furniture or not. I suppose it can make a mess if you let it build up enough.

If you can ventilate the smoke and keep it moving, I'd say give it a few demos and see what happens. I would think that if the fog has a chance to settle, residue issues may arise quicker.

A hazer may be a better option for you, particularly in your home. Fog tastes bad and can irritate your eyes. Plus, you need to keep fogging repeatedly in order to maintain enough atmosphere to see your lights. Guests might find fog rather annoying.

Hazers produce a much finer 'haze' and is easy to see through, and doesn't taste or smell either. Also, it produces little to no residue if used properly. The best part is, you can see your lights just the same if not better, without choking on fog.

Downside, a hazer is another investment.

I would agree with the hazer option. I do a light show at a casino during Karaoke. I have a 700 that I use there, but wish I had gone with the hazer option instead. What I am doing now is hitting the fog for a 1-2 second count and letting it dissipate. It can, however, become kind of thick. If you have purchased you 700 within the last 30 days most reputable stores will take it back. Just my $.02
