New Years with the VMS4

it's in the nature of forums that the negative things have a bigger weight (why would you write in a forum if all is good), but it's always great especially for us mods to hear the positive things, too!

I just purchased another one for backup . Whats nice is if something ever did happen to my unit all I half to do is unplug the usb and two speaker cables , ready in 10 secs to start playing .

Just wanna report that I received my VMS4 last thursday, in about 3 hours I had all the drivers installed and vdj7 up, running flawlessly with latency set to 5ms, and remapped about 10 of the keys to what I wanted them to do. RCA output was a little low and I was getting some hum so I got out my hum eliminator and took the XLR out of the vms4 into the 1/4 inputs of the hum eliminator. Then went from the 1/4 outputs to RCA inputs on the system and the volume was much better, (this dropped it from balanced to unbalanced but I'm excited to see how much more volume I get when I use a mixer with 1/4 inputs so I can keep it balanced).

Friday and Saturday I took the unit live and had no issues what so ever. Friday was an afterparty with not a lot of volume but it sounded great and had my buddies S4 routed on channel one which also sounded great. Saturday I had a two hour opening set for a club and the vms4 and vdj7 worked perfectly. Didn't even get close to pushing the vms4's output, but was going through a rane 56 with the gain set at about +3 for my channel.

All in all a solid value for $500, and to go from opening the box to playing live with it in under 24 hours was amazing. I still have a month to return it so we'll see what goes on at namm and how soon the mk2 is set to release, but this unit did not let me down.
