I'm also using a Macbook Pro. 2008 model... with all the ugprades except RAM. I am at 2GIG's of RAM though, soon to be 4 Gigs.

Make sure you're running at least 10.5.8 if possible. Be aware of ProTools issues on the Mac side. Also be aware of ProTools not liking MSIE 8 on the Windows side.

What PC OS are you using? XP Home or Pro?(use Pro, I am using Home, it works fine but I'm not happy with Home because it lacks things I need). I found XP Pro cheap online, I'm ordering an OEM release.

On your XP SP3, you HAVE TO install it an SP2 version, not earlier(SP1 or original). Something to take into consideration. Did you install all your Apple drivers? Are you running your Apple and Windows updates? Are you running AV software(please be able to truthfully say yes to all that!)

First, de-install MyDMX, reboot.

Download the latest MyDMX from the web site. Yes, it's the FULL version as what you got on the CD except more current. You need the hardware to actually USE MyDMX via DMX.

Re-install MyDMX. Reboot.(yes reboot again) DO NOT have the dongle connected at this point.

After booting and logging in, connect the dongle. It should load the driver and be ready to go. NEVER boot with the dongle plugged in.

Run MyDMX. You should be fine.

Supporting what Jason asks, do report what you see when you plug in the dongle.

I have NOT tested using Snow Leopard and BootCamp. ProTools is my priority application(believe it or not) and so I can't upgrade until I can ugprade to ProTools 8(assuming it works with 10.6.x/Snow Leopard). I do know using 10.5.8 and latest Bootcamp(just came out) and XP Home SP3 and all updates(apple and Windows), I have no issue with MyDMX.
You didn't say you were running 64-bit XP. BTW, how is that running for you, and how is the compatibility with other Windows apps? Just wondering, because I'm debating going XP Pro 64-bit on this MacBook Pro since it would speed up Sony Vegas, but I also have to weigh ProTools. Being Win/Mac on the same box ensures I can keep rocking and rolling with ProTools whenever one OS updates and ProTools "breaks" after updates to the OS(it's happened before, it will happen again).

At least you're up and running.
After installing the software and rebooting, are you booting with the MyDMX hardware plugged into the USB port? Don't do that. Unplug, reboot.

Now, re-connect the hardware. Hear the happy tones? If yes, then good. You should see the power and DMX lights on at this point. The USB light is supposed to go on when the MyDMX software has started.

Just to be clear: You must have your hardware connected BEFORE you launch MyDMX.
elrolas I just installed the 64 bit drivers

But I have two new problems now.........

A. When I try to open the show save file it give me and error but still loads the patches.

B. Once the show is loaded up I cant add, create, or even view scenes via the lights

Thanks again for the help guys
Well, it's unclear if you're working or not.

If you're not runnign 64-bit Windows(including XP), then why are you running the 64-bit version? Uninstall and re-install via the archive on the ADJ site.

Again:
Disconnect the hardware. Un-install. Reboot. Re-install. Reboot. DO not plug in hardware until instructed to do so.

At this point, after the second reboot, the driver should be installed. Forget the hardware for a bit and run MyDMX. What are your results? Do you have the problems you've previously described?

Now, shut down MyDMX if it ran. Plug in the hardware. Wait for the tones. What do the lights look like? Launch MyDMX. Problems still exist?

What other applications do you have on there. Do you have anti-virus software? Real anti-spyware software(no, your AV package won't count, they all fail in this area except Spybot Search & Destory 1.62). You NEED AV softare installed. I recommend Norton AntiVirus latest release. I'm using Norton 360, but honestly, the supposed "speed" is a load of crap, and it bogs resources more than necessary.

What's going on now with MyDMX? Are you in DEMO or USB mode? Slow response?

Remember, never boot with the dongle plugged in. Always plug it in right before you're going to run MyDMX, or at least after booting and login.

I'm going to need more information because you've got some other issue going on. I'm thinking you're leaving out some bit of information.

Try making a new show, saving that and seeing what happens upon exit and re-start of MyDMX.

Again, if you're NOT using a 64-bit version of Windows, DO NOT use the 64-bit drivers/patch/release.
