I want to add a contoller to my lighting effects. I have a couple of lights that I have been using in sound active mode but I am ready to make the switch to DMX...I think! The question I have seems simple, what do I need to get started? Can I just use any DMX controller and thats it or do I need relay and dimmer packs too? Any help would be great. Thanks!

If you use DMX compatible fixtures, no you don't need a dimmer pack. Because they have XLR in and outs built right into the fixture than can be hooked up straight to a DMX controller. If you you pars or non-dmx fixtures that don't have XLR connections then you need a dimmer pack. You plug the electric prongs into the dimmer pack, and the dimmer pack has XLR out and IN connections which hook up to a DMX controller.
