I just have a basic set up right now, 4 mighty's , 750 watt mega stobe, with fog and a 16" mirror ball. (I know, I need to add some effects lights) I can already brag about my show here though because hardly anyone is offering intelligent lighting here, and due to my superior programming
I can do A LOT with the Mighty's and with the MIghty and Mirror ball combo! (by the way skillz I didn't notice any mirror ball in your pics, you might be of those who think mirror balls are old school, but you would be amazed at the effects you can get when you use scrolling gobos or colors on them with your scanners) Anyway, I was thinking of using mine for spotlighting the first dance too, I was curious, do you mark a spot and tell them do the dance there, or to you just controll the spot manually and follow them, and are you using just open white and are there any probs with washing out in the photos?[/qb]
Planetd77,
I don't have a website nor even advertise anymore...all business is strictly word of mouth and I turn away quite a bit...I guess that comes with longevity (old age..LOL).
I can try to load a pic here of a gig I did last summer...unfortunately, it's just a static pic with no lighting shots...i don't have a digital camera and everything I take simply washes out the beams...however, the photogs with their professional gear and skill know what to do as I discuss how I highlight them during their first dance. I use 4 812's with the circle gobo in white. I also place a 1' X on the floor and ask them to try and use that area...it works extremely well! The pics I've seen have been phenominal and I have received many calls weeks after the reception when they get their wedding album and see some of the pics and how the lighting can really make a dramatic difference.
As you note, I also use the scanners to paint the mirrorball and will try to match bridesmaid colors when possible or a nice contrast to their colors if I can't match them.
Your lightshow sounds quite nice indeed! Before adding effect lights though, I'd strongly consider adding colorchangers first...it's simply amazing what you can do with 4 colorchangers and 4 scanners.
Finally, I did try to take some pics at a large corporate gig I did this month where I provided sound, lighting, video & live video for their dinner/presentation and also the DJ system in a adjoining room following the presentation...I should have these pics back in about a week and will try to post them.
Now, if I can just figure how to upload a pic onto this site....
Oh yes, where about in the midwest are you located?
Bob
