Hello,
a half month ago I wanted to buy a new MIDI Controler. At the moment I'm using a Numark Omni Control, but after getting into DJing the Numark has too less buttons. So I found the VMS4, which looks perfect: 4 channel Mixer (even without PC), lots of buttons and knobs, XLR Output and so on.
But after reading through some forums I was realy disappointed!! How can such an controler (quite expensive and professional looking) have so much problems? At least American Audio saw and heard what the customers complained about and they are working on a new and improved version, but I realy miss some features, which are standard on other controlers!
So here is my list of problems I would fix:
1) possibility to control and record 4 Traktor decks. As far as I know, noone has figured out if it works/how this works.
2) Louder headphone and master output WITHOUT more disturbtion. Already on AA's To Do list
3) Built-In microphone fix. Already on AA's To Do list
4) real linear potis for EQ etc! Lots of people complained about it (also in Germany), see here, or there. Lots more in other posts/forums...
5) The Jog wheels seem to be too sensitive and not tough enough, see here
6) 6,35 mm (1/4 inch) connector for headphones! This is not a toy! Even 100$ controlers have this!
7) problems with the cue buttons, see here and there
8) Tell the costumers of the "old" VMS4 what they sould do with there controler? Will they get an new one for free, the money back or whatever?
I would realy appreciate it, if any official American Audio employee would give answer on each question! The VMS4 has some problems, but ignoring them makes it even worse!
