Hello,

a half month ago I wanted to buy a new MIDI Controler. At the moment I'm using a Numark Omni Control, but after getting into DJing the Numark has too less buttons. So I found the VMS4, which looks perfect: 4 channel Mixer (even without PC), lots of buttons and knobs, XLR Output and so on.

But after reading through some forums I was realy disappointed!! How can such an controler (quite expensive and professional looking) have so much problems? At least American Audio saw and heard what the customers complained about and they are working on a new and improved version, but I realy miss some features, which are standard on other controlers!

So here is my list of problems I would fix:
1) possibility to control and record 4 Traktor decks. As far as I know, noone has figured out if it works/how this works.
2) Louder headphone and master output WITHOUT more disturbtion. Already on AA's To Do list
3) Built-In microphone fix. Already on AA's To Do list
4) real linear potis for EQ etc! Lots of people complained about it (also in Germany), see here, or there. Lots more in other posts/forums...
5) The Jog wheels seem to be too sensitive and not tough enough, see here
6) 6,35 mm (1/4 inch) connector for headphones! This is not a toy! Even 100$ controlers have this!
7) problems with the cue buttons, see here and there
8) Tell the costumers of the "old" VMS4 what they sould do with there controler? Will they get an new one for free, the money back or whatever?

I would realy appreciate it, if any official American Audio employee would give answer on each question! The VMS4 has some problems, but ignoring them makes it even worse!

Hello, it is Sunday night in America and I am a little tired, but here you go.

1) Yes, switch the soundcard on the front to "8" for soundcard of download the 4 deck mapping. Under "Media" there is a cool video of a DJ using 4 deck tracktor about 5 months ago. The VMS4 works well with 4 deck traktor.

Of note, most Traktor issues are when people do not upgrade to the latest version of Traktor

2)If you download version 3.11 it increases the headphone volume.

3)External mic fix (for wireless and high outputs mics) works great and is FREE, read the comments, they are great

4)will get back to you on that. The Amazing DJ Fresh Fluke could probably give you a better answer.

5) Check out the job wheels yourself. Any controller takes some adjustmet. The other 4 deck ones are plasitc, ours are metal

6) It only has a 1/4" headphone output.

7) Firmware 3.11 takes care of the cue buttons, look under downloads for explanation

8) We have literally thousands of happy VMS4 owners. Most mobile user turn the volume up on their speakers or amps from how they had it previously on their old system. If we can update that, we will. We have tested several things.

Hope this helps. I don't know of any post or issue that have ever been ignored. If you check out other manufactures forums, there will always be issues and hopefully always be solutions. Thanks for your interest.
he posted the same stuff in the german board and i gave pretty much the same answers you gave.

good call on the traktor users, you're right, a lot of issues arise simply by using old versions (very often crack users, since all traktor pro updates have been free but not all have been cracked).

anyways, i'm astonished that someone who hasnt had the vms in hands once can put up such a posting full of rants half of them not even true and the other half resolved - fully relying on 2nd hand info?! wow.
