Hello all,

I am new here and have been repairing various lights for people over the last couple of months. It is a lot of fun. However, there are times when I get stuck at finding parts that are not available on the parts site.

If anyone can point me to something besides Google, I'd appreciate it. Even another website where repair nerds hang out. I live not far from Los Angeles and would like to also inquire to ADJ if they need help repairing lights.

Currently looking for:

Pocket Scan - Color Wheel or Gobo stepper motor. I have one that is seized up.
The information on this stepper is: Mitsumi M42SP-5 12 volt, 7.5 degree step, 120 ohm, 3 or 4 mm shaft, mounting holes are 49 or 50mm apart. Cannot find this stepper motor anywhere. Has anyone used a substitute?

Pocket Scan - Hanger and hardware. This is a very common missing part(s).
Pocket Scan - Red LED cover and button thing

Pocket Scan - Tilt wire harness (and wire cover if you have it)

Common:
Pocket Scan and Mighty Scan - Sheet metal screws, black, philips pan head m2.9 or M3 x 6.5 or 7mm screws. I am finding it impossible to find these. I have successfully found the other screws, just these are remaining.

If you have any pocket scans or mighty scans for parts please let me know.

I hope this is not violating any policies, I am simply looking for help to keep these awesome lights running and want to help others if I can.

Thank you for your time,
Eddiie

Update on this...

I've managed to find that this stepper motor is used in several of the lights. Odd how the parts store does not stock them. Anyway, I found a suitable replacement from Parallax.
http://www.parallax.com/product/27964

They warn me these are surplus motors and should not be used in production. They also have 3 different types listed under the same SKU. Your mileage may vary.

It comes with a pinion gear and the screw holes are threaded. A dremel took care of the pinion and a drill took care of the threads. It works perfectly.

The tilt motor cable I made from parts laying around and barrowed some excess wire covering from another Pocket scan so it looks stock.

I am still missing the red cover for the LEDs and buttons. This is going to be impossible to find.

Once I turn it on, the light works but the gobo wheel is off by one tick. No matter where I place the sensor the gobo is still off center, moving the sensor screws up the color wheel too. The sensor was moved so much that it broke and had to order another one.

I moved the magnet on the gobo wheel over on notch (so-to-speak). Now the gobos are perfectly aligned but they are off by 1. This is strange because I have compared everything I can think of to another pocket scan and all parts and positions are aligned just right.

Through the course of this I find some jumpers on the main board for a remote control daughter card. ?? Also found someone that has this wireless daughter board installed but no transmitter. Where can I find the transmitter for this?

It seems this was an option on some Pocket Scans. Maybe Sound activation or wireless because the unit with the remote receiver does not have a sound knob.
