I would use the pins on the flat truss behind the drums...(can you fade them?), they're not that effective as spots but work nicely for backgrounding the stage. Use smoke there if you have it. The par-56's on the box out front to illuminate the band members and keep the centerpiece lighting at home, (Vertigo, Mini-Gressor, etc.) Of course use the strobe. Maybe 1 X-Treme on each side of the pins. Good luck!!! -Ken-

First thing is to learn how to spell concert, lol j/k I think i'm the worst at spelling on this board. please take it as a joke.

ok ok really though...
you say "me and my band"
well if your in the band dont you wanna make it look the best? I mean If I was in the band I would bring everything I could just so I and My band mates look better.

so bring everything. douh!!!!!!!
just have YOUR band mates to help you. that is a great light show and will make YOU and YOUR band look really really good
to the "Drummer" who said fog shouldn't be used at concerts. how many concert have youbeen to. two? all concerts use fog because who wants a couple intel. flashlights moving around them. I realize it might be distracting but then you shouldn't have any lighting besides some cans that just stay on.

I do tons of concerts with the real high end moving head effexts etc. HOwver some of the bands don;t have that kinda money to spend. For your sake and my opinion...I would bring 2 intels (4 if you are really generous) and fog. If you have stands aside from the trussing I would use use instead of the trussing. I think hisis more than enough for $100.00. I rent a system out with trussing, crank stands, 8 par 64, 4 utopia's, fog and a strobe or 2 for over $300.00. However this includes setup/tear down/ and delivery. SOme of the big shows with the real heavy duty equipment rents out for over $600 most of the time. So I guess it all depends on how "generous" you are and you also need to take into consideration that it is only 2 hours long and are you wiling to bring everything....setup and tear down for only $100. That's my 2 cents!

dj-amproductions has some great advice, i do lights for local bands and i am starting to bring 4 intells, 2 mega strobes and thats it.....we charge differently though, 30-35% but we are also all really good friends. i stay busier than **** during the weekends and it is usuallyy during the week. to the drummer who doesn't like fog....you are a *****. i would bring the truss no question about it and just use your intells, don't bother with the par cans cause they can take a lot of time to setup and tear down. keep the fog flowing
Well, you said its your band so I'm guessing you watnt it to look good, so...Bring the box truss, 4 intells, strobe, fog machine (very unusual for a musician to be distracted by fog or lights, I played in bands for years, and never heard that one before Eeker )
If you can mount your pin spots somewhere on the stage floor pointing upward, fanning out. Like behind the drummer or on the front of the drum riser (if you have one) if not on the floor in front of the drums. If that cant be done, mount them in a row in center of your truss fanning down. Use your par cans in front to light up the band, use your dimmers so you can still see the intells, which should be mounted on the truss, behind the band. And hopefully, if your IN the band you will have someone (who knows what they are doing) running the lights. Good Luck! Big Grin
