I've been testing out MyDMX lately at a few gigs after purchasing the dongle but have notice that the application keeps freezing while it's in use. Sometimes if I unplug the USB and reconnect it, it solves the problem but other times it requires me to reload the whole application which is not ideal when using in a live situation.

Firstly I changed the USB cable as I thought this may have been the issue but no change, Then I tried the dongle on my Windows XP desktop and my Windows 7 netbook but still had the same issue. I've tried downloading the latest version of the software but still no joy.

Can you help before I give up on this software all together.

Thanks

So I've now upgraded MyDMX as you've suggested. Not sure If this is a different problem or linked with the first.

I'm trying to control 4x LED Par Cans and 2x Dynarocks. I can create shows using the Pars OR the rocks but when I try creating shows using both the Pars and the rocks, The rocks start flashing and moving on their own accord. I have checked out the DMX settings as I now this could be causing this if they had the incorrect addresses but everything seems fine.
All cables are DMX cables and I have tried swapping the cables. The cable is about 5m from start to end.

When I updated MyDMX I installed over the original program.

Even if I set a step for the Par's to change colour but the rocks to stay still, the Rock's seem to flicker even though the DMX values for those fixtures have not changed.

Thanks for the help and quick reply.
Sorry but I have never had so many problems with one bit of software!

I unistalled all MyDMX software from my PC. Downloaded a fresh copy of April 2010 and installed it to my machine.

Noticed it had a new "tools" application so I thought I'd take a look. Found the firmware tab and it said I was running Version 2.0. So I thought I would try and upgrade it, see if this solves my problems. So I clicked the Upgrade button and waited, and waited, and waited. Until "Firmware Upload Failed!". Odd I thought but I carried on. So I start up MyDMX. nothing works and it goes straight into "Demo Mode". Now the only lights I've got on the dongle is a single Red LED and no green LED's! So now my Dongle don't work at all! That means I can't even sell the piece of crap!

How can I at least get it back to "usable"? I have a gig this weekend and at this rate I will have no lighting!

Do not use the tools.exe to update the firmware on your interface. The firmware cannot be updated on the my dmx interface. you have now corrupted the firmware of the my dmx interface and need to send it in for servicing. I thought I posted this on the forums before. I did the same thing to my interface and I had to send it in to our service dept.
Call 800-322-6337 and ask for Tech Support, tell them you spoke to me and I said your interface is dead.
I will make a sticky post on the forums soon.

Jingles is there any chance you can log a call for this via email as I can't get hold of any American DJ offices?

The only other quick option I have is to repurchase the dongle while I try and contact your Tech Support.
Ultra,

Hang in there with MyDMX, it is worth the effort! I am completely computer illiterate and have managed to get it up and running (with much help and encouragement from Jingles and Chris). It has been myself as the biggest obstacle, not the software. It just takes a bit of time.

I have been using it for over 2 years now and have really enjoyed using it. Sure, I have had issues here and there, but with the help of this forum, I was able to overcome them and drive on. I get huge compliments on my light shows compared to the days I was just using an analog controller. It is an incredible tool that you will really like. I hope you stick with it. Good luck!

To be honest I do really like MyDMX. I've been playing with several other DMX software programs (freestyler, sweetlight, Daslight)and although they may have more features and can run multiple programs at once I seem to get on with MyDMX better (probably something to do with it being simpler).

But there seems to be loads of bugs in MyDMX which I seem to keep finding (and why they offer an option to screw up the firmware is past me???)

If jingles can help me sort out my dead unit and bugs I would be more than happy to stay with MyDMX otherwise I feel I maybe force to go with another DMX program.

And I'm amazed American DJ don't have offices in the UK. This leaves us Uk users with little product support options.
