So, with two threads on MyDMX and Halloween parties, I was just wondering how your events went.

I don't pull my lights out for the holiday, or my other gear. I got too many useless greedy neighbors(for example, the ones who are a non-stop music blasting noise-fest every night broke into an in-laws car parked IN my driveway. How do I know this? Well, when you see them carrying the tennis racket with her name on it and pulling it out of the bag with her name stitched on it, that's what you call "guillty").

Halloween was lame where I live for the kids going door to door this year. We had rain, so it really knocked the numbers way down. I was prepared for people going around on November 1 who instead of going "Trick or Treat'ing", would go door to door going "Leftovers?" Didn't happen, but I was prepared.

I've got some ideas in the works. I work with a bunch of groups that are into sci-fi and horror. I think I could get those groups plus a few local celebrities(like, THE #1 Horror Host, Mr. Lobo, and the Queen of Trash), pool resources and organized some sort of haunted house party thing. An idea for next year.

Just because the holiday is over, it's never too early to start planinng for next year, and there are three more MAJOR holidays coming up soon. Keep your creativity flowing. The more information we share, the moer capabilities we can discover in MyDMX.

Chris,

My event went extremely well! I did have a strange glitch though. After I had everything setup and tested out ok, I took a break for about 40 mins. When I came back, MyDMX was locked up and screen saver was on. This has happened before with no big deal to get it back online (just rebooted MyDMX and it was up and running). Well this time i had to reboot and restart the laptop. Then MyDMX would not accept the saved program. It would not load it no matter what i did. I called Jingles in a panic and we tried everything with no luck. He then suggested to unplug the USB to dongle. I did it (but had little faith that that would cure the prob)and wellla...it then would load the program. Anyway, Jingles is the man! and everything went perfect after that.

I still experience a few weird things on the program. Sometimes my movers will not move as depicted in the 3D visualizer. It just seems to be in a scene or two but not all of them. They will work fine in other scenes then be off (either one moving the wrong way or not lined up as seen in the 3D)in the next. Not sure what is the root cause of it but it happens. I just have to go into the editor and reposition each step according to what the actual mover is doing and no prob, then it just looks screwy in the 3D visualizer.

Anyone else ever experience anything like those 2 glitches?

Thanks,
Ric
I've definately experienced "dongle insanity". It's become my routine to NOT boot with the dongle plugged in. I find MyDMX works best when the dongle is plugged in "hot" before launching MyDMX. This tells me there is still a .dll issue wiht the drivers.

As far as figures not respoding in certain things, I've sort of experienced that. The ADJ default configuration for some movers I have was WRONG, and mine was right, IF I set panning to reversed on both fixtures, which gave perfect results so I'm fine with that.

Other than that, I reported a massive failure with MyDMX, but have had no problems since then.

Good to hear it went well.
