Hi,

I need help with this one..

I use mydmx purely for uplighting, I recently bought several megabar 50 rgb and cannot get them to work via dmx.
When I plug my dmx cable into a megabar set the channel on the megabar and on mydmx the only function or should i call it a function that works is channel 7 which when I move the virtual fader it just cycles very quickly through various colours?
No matter which version of the megabars I choose this is all it will do, I am at a loss at the moment.
All my other lights are working perfectly through mydmx with the same cables.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Problem solved..

A good nights sleep sorted it all out..
To run these units in DMX mode via MYDMX firstly you have to add them to the dmx universe, I selected the seven channel setting.., depending on how many units you have the first unit will always be CH-1 and the last will be the last eg 4 units CH-1 through CH-4. Select this on each unit also.
The next thing that needs to be addressed( no pun intended) are the dmx address of each unit,by placing your cursor over each unit on the dmx universe this will be highlighted, if the first unit is the first fixture on the dmx universe then the address should be 1 the next 8 the next 15 and so on.., this will have to be selected on each unit.

I hope this helps someone in the future..

Thank for you input jingles, made me think about it Wink
I've got 8 mega Bar 50's. My only problem is I still want more of them. But 8 is enough, and it's time to get some Profile Panels and some Elation LED cans.

With DMX, unless you need individual control(such as how I do), there are NO issues having fixtures use the same address as another light. For example, on the big show I work on, I basically use the Mega Bar 50's in 4 banks of 2 each. So, lights 1 and 5 use the same DMX addresses, and 2 and 6 use their own set of 7 addresses(and so on). As the show evolves, I will give each light it's own addres for better management purposes.

Remember that the profile is not needed for MyDMX to work with anything, but it makes it friendlier for us humans, as well as gives us some nice management otptions. For example, ease of setting colors or making changes that would affect all of the same type fixtures.
