Hi All.. I have 11 megapanel led and just about to buy another 9. In addition I have 2 megabars, revo and a few lasers etc. I will be using the megapanels to Uplight venues BUT I also sing and use a large video screen so have been programming songs and assigning them to keys (on the laptop). Its time intensive to say the least but rewarding.

Q1. Should I just slave everything so it works in unison to save time?

Q2. Do i really need 20+ power points or is there a way of 'daisychaining' the megapanels?

Q3. Do i need a 'wireless dmx' if my room is a 'U' shape?

Looking forward to your thoughts and advice

Hey Phil.
1) If you do that then you have no DMX control unless all your fixtures are at address 1. i don't recommend it.

2) I see no way of daisy chaining power on these units. So extension cords would be best.

3) No. It's really up to you. But the wireless really just eliminates the dmx cable going from controller to the 1st fixture. Unless you have multiple receivers. Which can be costly.
Sincerely,
Thanks Jingles

Yeah I know what you mean about the lack of control, think I will set them up and spend the day programming for future events.

I wonder if ADJ has ever considered putting a male/female power socket on megapanels like the megabars have?

Is there some type of splitter from the dongle so i can cover left side of the room and right? is that feasible?
I'm not sure but since these units are already out for sale, i doubt we will make a new one with power in/out. but you never know.

Please never use a Y adapter for dmx. Take a look at the opto branch 4 from elation. it is a 4 way single universe dmx splitter. And it will also boost your DMX signal coming out of the my dmx interface aswell as protect your dmx line and fixture because each of the 4 splits are optically isolated. So if there was a storm and it took the power out you won't end up frying your dongle and all your fixtures. At the worst it fries one of the outputs on the branch 4. well ok now you got 3 left. haha. Get what I'm saying?
Sincerely,
Fantastic, just looked it up on the internet and they actually sell them in the UK (ha). I get the feeling i am right on the edge of using a more professional set-up i.e. should I swap to elation compu software etc.

I will purchase one of these units and see if this will help. thanks
i certainly won't object to you going with compu. However if you do, ask for the Compu show SD interface. Or compu cue. these are the next generation interfaces from Elation and will work with our soon to be released redesigned Compu Show software and it will also work with the current compu live software aswell.
Sincerely,
Great I will check it out.

Just ordered the 'opto branch 4'. I never considered the dmx signal weakening, but now i will be able to link both sides of a large room and dmx some lighting on stage by me, without having a 'spiders web' linkage of wire everywhere.

Is that the reason why sometimes, when i attach a certain megapanel, the signal breaks and the lights do their own thing? (tried several different leads) its an occasional fault, sometimes causes a light pulse too?
