Well the Max is discontinued but it CAN be controled w. a standard DMX 512 controller, the new XP3 is cool but its not great if u want to be creative since the gobo and colors are all on the same wheel... though it makes the price alot better by doing it that way! o and i have a question.. ive heard rumors that the Max has problems with it motor base (yoke) is this true?
maybe im missing something but to me it looks like the XP3 doesn't rotate on the base? maybe its me, anyway, i was looknig at the Martin info, it seems all companies i try and reach about them say, they don't sell them, or if you e-mail them, you never get a response. Mind you im in Australia.
Maybe if i wnat any, im better off saving for 5 or more and getting them imported.
thanks all

Email me at portatree@aol.com for some more info. Thanks!
The company Elation is owned by ADJ. They make many moving head fixtures. ADJ is known for there low prices but the Elation lights are more professional and for the more profesional installations. No matter where you go you will not find a very cheap moving light. Though i know a good moving head for only $599.00 i cant display the name on this forum. It resembles the xp3 but its made by a different company. It has seperate color/gobo wheels. 11 colors and 11 gobos, shake effect, strobe 1-15 flashes per second and many other features. e-mail me if you would like more info. ultimatedj663@yahoo.com
I have an Elation Spot 150, which I just recieved recently... I paid around 600 on it, which is a good deal...

It is sold under VARIOUS different names... And no, not all moving heads are manufacture by Elation, and the fixtures arent manufactured all by ADJ... That is why you will come across a LOT of products that look exactly them same and ARE exactly the same... (Just beware cause some look but arent the same quality)...

If you would like more info e-mail me... as far as finding them in Aus, I'd see what brand you want and ask who represents them "down under"... Smiler

G'day mate!
Hey I Like Lights,
You stole my avatar! Frowner Oh well I guessI can always change mine. Anyway, ADJ has a new moving head out called the Auto Spot 150. About $1200. Very nice light well worth the money. However if you are willing to spend at least $2000 check out Elation Professional. They ahve some neat moving heads.

For starts, some terminology correction. The entertainment industry will think you are talking about something different if you use the term "moving head." The correct term is "moving yoke" or just simply "movers." A fixed head intel should also be referred to as a "moving mirror" light. A "moving head" actually refers to a projector fixture moving apparatus. No biggie, but using the wrong jargon in front of the wrong people can give the impression that you are not a professional. This may affect who hires you and who doesn't. I have found what appears to be some good 250 watt low end movers at this sight.

They have a good price, dimming capabilities, but not a lot of colors to choose from. In addition to lighting terminology, it is also beneficial to know your theatre terminology.
