Depends on the light and how yo want to use it.

Now, I know these aren't LED's, but my Chauvet Q-Spot 150's, I had to figure out how to orient them and then any tweaks, so they matched what the 3D Visualiser did for MyDMX. In this case, it means the display screen/menu screen INTO the stage and the power and the DMX connectors are facing the audience. This actually works out for the better because of how I use these, I don't want that bright blue LED dot showing to the the whole time(or covered with gaff).

I would also suggest that you're consistent in your lighting brands or have some handy notes so you know how you need to place things.

How are you aiming these? Base inverted(up)? Base at 90-degree angle to down?

Once you have things configured right, you shouldn't have any problems. I placed label tape on my fixtures to ensure proper placement. I probably would not do that if I was truss mounting these though. I'd probably just use a smaller piece with just the DMX starting address.
Thanks Chris,
Actually, the 2 Vizi Led Spots will be hung base up from a T-Bar. The Led I was referring to was the menu dmx buttons (or whatever they are called). So power cord to audience or the red light menu toward the audience ? I suppose either is correct and you are right, I will mark them so they go up each time the same.
I'm a professional sound engineer, not some DJ!!

But back to the topic at hand:

Jerry:
As long as you're consistent, you should have no problems. Are you using anything like MyDMX where you have a 3D Visualiser-type concept going on? I really let the MyDMX software make a lot of my decisions for me. I'm not saying this as bad or good, but at least I got the fixture and MyDMX to agree, so that was a whopping 20 minutes of work to get my 2 Q-Spots to cooperate properly.

Here's what I've seen at larger events:

If movers are floor mounted, I usually see them with that menu dot aimed forward(audience side). I suppose a red LED isn't as piercing as a BLUE!!!

At my events, the movers go on top of the speaker stacks(1 per stack), and so, that stupid blue LED just is too distracting in my opinion. It's too bright. But the real reason for my work with my movers and MyDMX was due to having to work on a show where I really needed to work properly offline. Once I got the mover's orientation figured out, I was ready to move on. So, in a strange way, I'm glade I have to go plug side out, menu screen in.

I'd bet your movers have red LED's. I woulnd't worry too much. Besides, neater that way than plug side out.
Let me chime in here. It's all about thinking ahead. I know jerry you use compu live correct? Well either way if you use compu or my dmx you can adjust the blackout scene. My thinking is is do not want my audience to see the lights on the menu. Also say you usually hit your black out button on your program. Take it into mind that the lights will go to 0 value. so if you have the light out towards the crowd and the 0 value is the head facing the back wall you will see them move back there just a bit. Also when going from blackout to a scene you will see light output from that way until they get to their point. but the good thing is since you use a software program to program your lights you can decide the fixtures position for blackout. All you have to do is program a black out scene in my dmx or in compu live edit your INIT scene. Make sense?
Sincerely,
