I carry my mirror ball in the cardboard box it came in. I've kept good care of it, so it doesn't look bad. But the company I used to DJ for had some rough looking cardboard boxes for the mirror balls, so I usually would just transport them in the box to the dance, but when I went in to set up the equipment, I'd carry the mirror ball by itself. If you do want to take the mirror ball in with the box, after you set up the mirror ball on the turning motor, take the box back out to your vehicle. Then when you're done with the dance, go out and get the box. If you time it out right, most people won't even see the box. Smiler
Make a square road case that's inside diameter is the sme as the outside diameter of the mirror ball. If you have a motoriazed base, make a compartment in the bottom of the case for that to sit in, put a single piece of plywood with 1" or 2" foam on both sides and then set the ball on top of that. A hinged top with a piano hinge on one side and two recessed latches on the other side would probaly be the best design. The case itself can be built out of 5/8" plywood and either carpeted with outdoor carpeting or even just painted black. Protective corners, recessed latches, hinges, casters, and any others materials can be purchased at any decent hardware store.
Another option for used road cases that may fit your ball may be found at lightbroker.com
