Hi there!

Gooood morning from icy cold-ass finlandSmiler Sorry for the english, i try to make this as pleasant as i can.

So, i work as a dj in a small nightclub and recently purchased mydmx as my personal controller. It seems to be very cabable and nice little system, but few annoyances makes things difficult.

1.
I have (yet) four martin mx-1 scanners to order around, and i was happy to set up stage, make lots of nice scenes and so on until this came up. Fourth scanner seems to lose its position in x-axis somehow >:/ No matter if i´m doing a new scene or running a show, suddenly mx4 points off from its course. Every scene, every step same thing. Always mx4 and only channel x. Sometimes resetting the program helps, usually not. At first i thought it was because i was missing a terminator, then made one(430ohm resistor between pins 2 and 3?) but the problem persists. Makes me nuts.

I dont think this is the cause but i am, sadly, using some xlr-cables istead of true dxm (longest cable from mydmx to 1st scan is a real one), and previous controller worked fine.

2.
As said, generating some FX does sometimes only half of the trick. Lets say i want to make a simple scene which contains all fixtures to circle(10 points) + shutter to wave up and down for nice flickering. Everything looks fine and i hit "generate", this makes ~30 steps in a scene. Fine. Sometimes this works, but sometimes for example steps 1-14 work fine, fading time maybe 00:01:00 BUT steps 15-30 have fading time only 00:00:04, which makes the rest of the scene go - go figure -"supafast".

Fewer steps in a FX seems to work often than FX which has more steps. I can always chance times manually but it kinda sucks a bit ´cause i already have to correct some anonymous fourth scan now and then...

Any suggestions? Smiler

Thx in advance,

-O

1: It's a 120-ohm resistor, not a 430. Might help if you have the right hardware.

Have you tried moving some of them around(the Martins) or at least changing the order they are connected in? Might not be possible. Are they all set up the same? Are they properly "zero'd" so you know where they should be oriented by default?

And yes, you NEED to really use DMX cabling.

2:
What version of MyDMX are you running? Use the latest from the web site. I would assume you're runing XP(which after my Windows 7 experience, I can't find any reason to switch to anything past XP, Vista sucks and Win 7 sucks differently).

You'll want to select ALL your fixtures to make the scene generator work on all of them especially if you've given all the fixtures different addresses. When I make a circle with my movers and I want 20 points, I only get 6 steps. Go figure.

I think you have some other issue that you haven't shared with us yet, bt I think that may be because you don't have all the information yet.

Thinks are pointing to bad cabling and bad terminator. Plus one more thing I mention next:

ALSO, considering getting an Elation Opto Branch/4. It will boost your signal as the MyDMX dongle's signal isn't as strong as your controller. That could be key as well as it is getting obvious that your signal strength is faltering the further out you go.
