I installed MyDMX in a church a few years back and just started having some issues with it this summer. One issue is that the program will work for about 10 minutes and then it appears that it stops out putting DMX. The program still responds, but the lights do not anymore.

The second issue I saw just last week really worries me. If we minimize or even reduce down the program, the lights go crazy and strobe. Happened everytime I tried.
June 11 version of the software.

1: When you start up, is the hardware connected? The MyDMX dongle should be disconnected.

2: What OS are you running? I've had no issues with 64-bit Win7. Last time I had issues it was with XP Pro. Same computer.

3: Are you using DMX cabling? Trust me, it makes a difference. Also, how long is your longest single run and total run length.

4: Are you using any sort of signal booster? I find front-ending the MyDMX hardware to an Elation optobranch/4 cleans things up nicely. It's STRONGLY advised.

5: Are you using a DMX terminator?

6: Honestly, MyDMX needs to stay foreground. Whenever you minimize or don't let it be foreground, well, it can throw a bit of attitude. Ideally, I know it sounds like a waste of resources, but MyDMX should be the only thing running.

6: Disable WIFI. I know.... Well it's not as bad IF you are on a WIFI network but if not, disable that and your ethernet. Well, don't disable ethernet if you're connected to a network....

7: Latest patches installed(OS, video, whatever)?

Make a blackout scene(ALL ZERO values, essentially an empty NEW scene). When things go freaky-deaky, go to that blackout scene for 1 second, then go back to the scene you want. See what happens.
windows 7 - 64 bit
The computer starts up with MyDMX plugged in. That said, once the lights either stop working, or freak out, I have the tech team unplug the USB, wait a few and then plug it back in. The program will behave again for another 10 or so minutes and then the problem returns.

Yes, a terminator is installed and the cables are "really" all DMX cable - elation brand.
I've told the church that the computer should be only for lighting but there are already 3 computers back in the booth (video streaming on the web and lyric projections)The lighting computer is shared with audio for recording the sermons. However, the program still has issues even when the computer is not multi-tasking.
I really would follow Chris's advice and leave the interface unplugged until the computer is fully booted and is back to a idle status.
I also would not minimize or re-size the program window while playing back lighting live.
I always disable any sort of PC service I am not using while I am running lights live including WIFI and Bluetooth (unless you have a Bluetooth mouse or keyboard)
Also try using a different USB cable on the interface as it has been known for some of the cables to be faulty. and swapping cables has been known to fix these sort of disconnection type issues in the past and still to this day.
Sincerely,
