I have a total of 8 Mighty Scans 2 of them work great, The other 6 have mirror movement problems.

Some of the pan and tilt motors run jerky not smooth. Is there anything that can be done to correct this????

I tried other cables, end of line resistors, I tested these fixtures on a work bench where no other ac power lines were near.

Have you tried different controllers or are you working with the built-in programs/sound activated programs?

I know for a fact that a controller can play tricks with fixtures. I was using another controller prior to my Show Designer and it caused the active fixture's mirrors I was programing to sort of shake and twitch (Mighty Scans).

Also, did you try working on each fixture individually or all of them in a chain? If individually, does this problem persist in both individual and chain setups, or does it come and go depending on the setup?

Is this problem consistent or intermittent?

Sorry for asking so many questions. I have a rig of mighty scans myself and I'm interested in trying to help figure this out.

Hi Light tech

1. I have tried two different controllers both show designers. (results are the same)
I am not running any scenes/chases or sound programs.
All I am doing is setting the speed control to a min level and opening the shutter. Next I move the pan control from 0 to 512 and observing the mirror movement. The mirror will move slow but smooth and than aprox 1/2 way the of the pan the step motor will seam to twitch.
I bench test one mighty scan one at a time and the problem is consistent
So far i have changed cables/controllers/pulled the step motors appart/changed step motors. And it still does it. So i feel its in the pc board.
I will be going to visit my Uncle in upstate NY tomorrow(electronic guru)and i am taking a mighty scan/max/x-cailber/2 DP-DMX20 and see if this is a simple problem or major one. I will keep you informed.
