Hey everybody

I am a new member on this forum. I am Kristof Standaert from Belgium (east flanders), 38 years, mobile wedding-, private party- and party pub DJ. I bought myself the VMS4 midi controller last week (to replace my Numark Omni Control i've been using till now, with personal midi mapping). I use Traktor Pro software on my laptop (HP Pro). I've been digital DJ-ing over 5 years now (before Traktor I used PC DJ FX on another laptop, with keyboard control).

I'm personalising my midi mapping in Traktor for the VMS4.

I came upon a problem witch prevents me of already using the VMS4 on my DJ gigs (with this problem unsolved i simply can not use the midi controller to DJ with).

I've successfully mapped the channel faders as fader1=deck C, fader2=deck A, fader3=deck B, fader4=deck D in my midi mapping. The problem seems to be with fader2(deck A).

The problem:

When music is playing in deck B (fader3 open, all other faders closed) the music is at a certain dB on the VU meter (let's say for example -2 dB).
When I bring up fader2 (deck A) the music (playing on fader3) goes up (increases) with 2 dB (and no music playing on fader2 (deck A), only the fader is up).
When I pull fader2 back down, the music on fader3 drops again (decreases) with 2 dB. The same result with the other faders. Fader1 or fader4 increase in volume when I bring up fader2, decrease in volume when i bring down fader2.

Also when fader3 (or fader1 or fader4) is up and playing music and I bring up fader2 (without playing music), and I manipulate the EQ knobs (above fader2), the sound of fader3 (deck B) changes. (fader3 open playing music, fader2 open not playing music, manipulate bass, mid and treble above fader2 and sound slightly changes on fader3). Same effect on fader1 and fader4 when I manipulate EQ above fader2. It seems that fader2, and it's EQ knobs, has an effect on all the other faders. Although the EQ knobs are mapped correctly in my Traktor (when each fader is singly up, the EQ knobs respond correctly to the sound of that certain fader)

I've checked the midi mapping in Traktor several times, even deleted and re-mapped the faders, same result every time. I am in the beginning of my mapping, so not many functions are mapped yet (so it can not be a conflict reason with other mappings).

Did other users of the VMS4, using Traktor, also had this issue ?

As long as this problem isn't fixed, I simply can not use the VMS4 yet to go out and DJ with (although I really want to get on the road using this nice piece of hardware :-).

Friendly greetings
Kristof - Belgium

Thanks very much Leo!
I had a bit of a struggle there but thanks to your reply the audio assignment is now OK! (I didn't know where to search for the solution) I've deleted the midi mapping for the EQ also and now only using the mixer EQ (instead of the software EQ). Result is the same (kill or boost certain frequencies), so to have a better overview in the mapping-assignment-grid, i've deleted the midi mappings functions that actually can be controlled by the mixer itself.
Learning more and more about midi mapping and working with advanced midi controllers ;-)

Now i can resume my midi mapping for certain personal settings.

Maybe i'll have some questions along the way about midi mapping.
For now i'm mapping the functions that are relative easy to program.

Thanks again !
Kristof
