OK, for those of you using MyDMX with MIDI equipment, I need some help from you.
First, this only applies to MyDMX users only, not hardware DMX controller/console users. If you don't have MyDMX, please do not participate.
Second, this only involves users who are either using or want to use MIDI with MyDMX. For those who are using MIDI, either successfully, partially successful or have had flat out failures, then you're who I want to hear from. This includes those trying to do sequencing from another machine, to those needing a controller.
For those participating, I need to know your operating system including 32 or 64 bit. (XP, Vista, Win7, 32 or 64-bit) I need to know what Service Pack you're running(if applicable).
Computer specs are nice, but I'll settle for CPU and RAM, but more important are things like laptop, netbook, desktop for now.
What is your MIDI hardware, including MIDI devices, USB MIDI devices and MIDI interfaces. Please note your driver versions as applicable. Also, I need to know if things are working, partially working or flat out didn't work.
Also note if you're using a USB hub and if powered or not.
For example:
My MIDIMAN(now MAudio) MIDISPORT 2X2 works but only off the A bank. My MAudio MIDISPORT 2X2 Anniversary Edition(update over the original 2X2) DOES NOT work at all.
My Firewire410 works via it's MIDI interface.
My Korg nanoKONTROL works, as does the nanoPAD and nanoKEY units.
My Novation Launchpad works.
My Akai LPK25 does NOT work at all.
Also, for my purposes, are your devices "class compliant" and not need a driver(regardless if they have a driver or not), and do they install as a USB Audio device?
The LPK25 DOES NOT have a driver, but does have a configuration application. The unit is class compliant and shows itself as a USB Audio Device under the Device Manager(so you can't really tell what is there).
The MAudio MIDISPORT 2X2 Anniversary Edition claims to be class compliant and installs as 2 USB Audio devices. It does have its own driver, but still shows up the same. The driver appears a bit funky.
The rest of the equipment shows up as a unique device under the Device manager. The Korg nanos all share the same device driver, the Launchpad has its own driver. The Firewire 410 has its own driver, and the original MIDISPORT 2X2 has its own driver.
I also want details as in "What are you using and how does it connect".
For example, I connect my JLCooper CS102 to my Maudio Firewire 410's MIDI interface. The Firewire 410 connects via firewire to my computer.
Also note any hardware that is a USB MIDI device that also provides MIDI to work with MIDI only devices.
I'm doing extensive troubleshooting and testing with MyDMX and MIDI and I have a working theory, which is partially revealed above.
PLEASE NOTE:
I am not here to slam MyDMX. If I didn't care, I wouldn't be doing this, I'd have just moved on a long time ago. I'm doing this to try to gather more information in hopes to have the product improve upon integrated elements that are not properly implemented.
Pleaes note that my funds are limited, otherwise I'd buy an Akai APC-40 and an Behringer BCF-2000(fader controller), a BCR-2000(rotary knob controller) and the Behringer FCB1010 for testing, but that's a lot of dough, so I'm not going to. Plus, realisitically, the foot controller has no other use for me, so it's not practical unless I get a super primo deal on that and the other Behringers AND the ACP-40. I already bought a Launchpad, and that was just for testing for now, but I can have other uses for it in the immediate near future.
