Just got into uplighting. I have 4 mega pars anticipating more. I have the RGB 3C they all work great together. BUT...
I want to expand but the lights start behind my DJ table and go both directions. To start the chain do I have to get a super long XLR cable to go from one end or the other to "start" the chain? I would like to split it and go down both sides from behind my table. Is there an easier way to do this? I feel like I'm missing something. Reading the manual it says you cannot "split" the XLR cable. How is everyone else doing these lights that don't complete the circle around the room?
Thanks for your help.

I think the "split" the manual is referring too is like making a "Y" adapter of dmx cable. which is true that is not advised at all. You can however use something like this: http://www.elationlighting.com...gory=DMX%20Solutions
you would go OUT from the RGB3C IN to the input on the opto branch 4 and then run two cables one for each side on any of the 4 outputs. make sense?
Welcome to the forums.
Sincerely,
Thanks James,
You are right, that item would do what I want but at almost 400 bucks for a splitter, I think I would rather buy 3 more mega pars and 300 feet of DMX cable and run it to one of the ends at the opposite side of the room! ;-)
You certainly understood exactly what I am trying to do so is there a more cost effective solution?
Thanks for your response.
Thanks James,
I wasn't looking to break the rules or test your ADJ loyalty! I personally insist on American DJ lighting as I have found it to be a higher quality and worth a little extra, and generally it is only a little extra for better quality. I was hoping that a commercial pig tail split was available and would work. I will be checking into your recommendation. It does look to do what I need.
Thanks for your help and direction!
T.
