It is just that: the most appropriate tool for the job. Over the weekend, in a typical "no support" environment, the new mics I ordered arrived and yet, nobody could bother to scoot their butt down the road to deliver them to me. I won't go on to say how angry I am, but if one knew my situation, this is the LEAST they could do.

The Design Bar fixtures are simply not affordable for my budget. Since nobody wants to pay fair market value for my services, making money is tough. I can get good results with low compromise by going ADJ.
I popped a Shure SM57 on the guitar cabinent. It sounds great, naturally, all placement, almost NO EQ: Put the right mic in the right position and a lot of problems go away. But, I snuck away to get my new ribbon mics(Cascade Fat Head II's) and threw that on the guitar the next night, and wow, what a difference.

I think we did a price break down on what it would cost to do a 64 LED Pro compared to what you'd need to do the same thing with a traditional Par64. It would take at least 3 cans, one would have a red filter, one would have a green and one would have a blue. You'd also need a DP-DMX20L(we're sticking all ADJ here) to do the color mixing. The 64 LED Pro wins on the ability to be consistent in location. No matter how hard you try, with the traditional cans, you can't get the same sort of effect, it just doesn't work as well.

Similarly to your story of this one fixture sitting unused, I have a similar story. The P64 LED UV is my fixture like that: And let me correct you on one thing: IT DOES show up on camera and photo! Of course, turns out I'm lighting up a white dress, so makes things easier.

I'm pretty much sold on the ELED PAR RGB Zoom. It seems to be a good cost-effective fixture to be a suitable substitute for a 500-watt Par64. I have to go over that thread on the Elation forum to see where I was headed, as my purchase will be within 40 days from today, probably a little bit sooner.
I will have to post a video of the thing I am talking about with the UV filter. You literally can't see it at all on the video. In person, was night and day.

And that ELED RGB Zoom is most likely more like a 750w ETC S4 Par/ParNel intensity wise. The Opti Par Tri at 54w total power is just under the 750w color for color. ELED RGB Zoom is 72w total power. Translation: P64 1000w < 750w S4 Par < ELED RGB Zoom
At my next event, I'm going to play with the UV filter in the follow-spots to light up the "target" more. The P64 LED UV did work wonderfully. I just could not get the actress to get fully into the light. But, with no rehearsals and only talking it over ahead of time, it came out fairly good. I don't think the UV filters on the spots would look as good as the UV P64 LED.

I may still go with the Elation UV Wash since you seem to say it would have best results.

So basically and theoretically I could choose either the Opti Par Tri or the ELED RGB ZOOM and be competitive with a traditional Par64. That's good t know, IF I understand this correctly.

I still need more advice. I almost need someone to say "Yo, this is the exact light you need now go buy it and shut the hell up!" Just wish certain manuals were online.

If money is left over in the budget, I'd say a couple of Mega Bars or Mega Pixels are going to show up.

More reading, more research.
Yeah, something like that.

I don't think I could afford 8 of them. Might go with the Opti Tri Par. Who knows, maybe a good deal is gonna fall on me. Like a 50% of that MSRP price. But hey, we both know who I'm buying through whatever I eventually decide. I just need whatever I want before a certain date, but I have to make a decision so I can start programming. I want at least 2 weeks to program since I have like 140 scenes to tweak.

Between you, Serra Ava and that reseller, I'll end up with the right fixture. At least I know what my budgetting is and how much room I have.

But, I wish Elation would put a manual up for that fixture, the ELED RGB Zoom. I see creative applications for the zoom as well. I'd like to use the zoom function on a sine wave pattern in MyDMX while at the same time having a rainbow chase. Man, that would be freaky on the eyes!

I've emailed Elation for manuals, just have to wait to see if they've responded or if it's getting nailed by a filter. I'll check the server logs tomorrow morning and grep for elationlighting.com

Again, the problem is too many GOOD choices for two issues I want to address. LED cans and LED bars. I'm an audio guy, NOT a lighting guy!!!

I still gotta call ADJ on a service issue.
I can relate to a manual better, but OK, I'll just have a harder time envisioning it until I convert it to paper to examine. Gee, that will take all of 5 minutes. I can handle that. Don't need perfect, just need a complete sense of what it can do, and the profile will be sufficient for that. Sounds good!
