Looking to start over

i've been working with theater lighting for a while now, but i'm begginning to dabble in DMX and am curious if there are any helpful, "idiot's guide"-type resources on DMX and/or "dumb" lights.

i'm tired of working with this old, outdated system, and i'm very anxious to find ways to maximize it's usefullness before it dies for good.

Should i consider looking into any sort of electronics training to help understsand the basics?

I have learned that this industry is pretty will to answers peoples questions and let you watch and learn from them. YOu may want to see if you can find a lighting company and ask if you can assist them on an event. You may be able to learn alot and may even end up with them asking you to work for them on some gigs as well
