Not a good fit.

A Par38 has as relatively wide spread angle since the bulb tends to be at the front of the opening of the fixture. So, at least in the case of the incadenscents, you can choose your spread based on the type of bulb you end up purchasing.

The 64 LED and LED Pro are good wash lights, but are expensive, considering what you want, and give more of what you're looking for.

Par36's tend to be "pin spots": narrow beam application. Not good for washes, but good for pointing at things, such as maybe a table(but not the whole table), or as I use my traditional Par36's: point at the mirror ball.

Is there a reason to go LED in your application? I'm heading in a pro-LED direction myself, but I'm thinking that for your application, LED might not be the way to go.

A couple of concerns would be "do you need DMX functionality" and I think your answer is "yes" because I think you want color changing capabilities.

If you're looking for MORE punch, then my recommendation would be to look at the Elation line. While the costs are higher, so are the features. I think that may be the better way to go for you.

I just don't think a Par36 is a good "wash" light. I've got 4 of them. 2 by ADJ and 2 by Chauvet and I can't say anything negative about either. Output is the same, bulb is the same, throw and spread is the same. Mind you, these are not LED units. I just find that Par36's tend to be a "pinspot" bulb, and so I don't expect much spread or wash, just a narrow beam.
I would highly recommend Opti 30 RGBs or Opti 30 Tri's. They have great menus on them, and are great for truss warmers. Lot's of stand alone options and channel control options from 1 channel to 7 channel.

They are also very small. They come with a bracket so you can stand them up by themselves on the floor/in a truss. They are fairly punchy for their size too. The Tri's are also nice in that they get rid of color shadows, so makes them better truss warmers in my opinion.
