I installed MyDMX on Win 7 64-bit Ultimate. No problems. I started with the April 2010 release, and it works just fine. Didn't do anything goofy, it just went right in. Couldn't have been simpler.

First, have you downloaded the latest from the ADJ web site? That's your first step.

Typical questions:
Exact PC configuration, namely CPU, RAM and drive
Exact release of Win 7(there are flavors) but you have stated 64-bit.

Do you have anti-virus software installed? Using WIFI? Broadband router rather than a direct connection to the internet?

I think the problem is you need the latest software. Remove your MyDMX installation, and then start over from scratch. This shouldn't be so difficult.

Do you have a card reader on that laptop? Try disabling the card reader. Also try a different USB cable. Some are known to be faulty. Also please caps off.

no card reader. would the usb lights still read with faulty usb cable? or would it be no power at all? i will still give it a try. sorry for caps and thanx in advance

Well they are not faulty as in they dont work at all ever. I mean the cable if it is bad or such low quality can be unpredictable in terms of connecting and staying connected. Get what I mean? I am on a windows 7 64 bit upgraded from win vista 64. Never had a problem having my dongle connect.

is it possible the problem could be in the saved scenes, written on the older updates? make sense? they are originally written in 32bit right? anything that i may have saved for shows that is. possible conflict in new update and old scenes? mhmmmm... i will return thanx again

I kinda doubt it. Cause there aren't any changes to that type of data and the coding used to develop that part of the program. If you want to start fresh by all means do so. Give it a shot.

so i have freshly installed win7 and april 2010 update. i see progress, first time went to usb mode. loaded old scenes, lagged and popped up in setup mode. blacked out for 3 secs or so after clicking to editor. user mode 5 to 7 sec blackout follow by high pitch drifting head on the trackspots x 8. this is better tho... thanx

How long is your DMX cable run? Are you using actual DMX cable? And do you have a terminator on the last fixture in the line?

yes dmx cable. yes terminator. this run off lights is just the trackspots x8 over main dance floor area. just whipped up new scene, all seems well, didnt black out switching back and forth from modes till i button mashed it. black out drifting around a lil and light back up in original spot of black out(never happened before) usually doesnt center back like that. so thats a good thing. thanx again

OK good. If your still having issues with the trackspots in a day or so, let me know. Also you never said how long your cable run is. Could be why the trackspots are acting up.

What is the recommended maximum length for a DMX cable?

75-100 feet before you will need a dmx line booster. Especially if your using a computer lighting control program such as my dmx or compu live. Also remember always use a dmx terminator on the last fixture in the line and always use actual dmx cable and not mic cable. Hope this helps.
