what do you recommend for artificial lightning... i have seen it on several shows and it is a nice effect... i bet it is expensive tho... and is it dmx controllable?

i worked on a system a few years ago and one of the items was a high powered strobe... i was round and i would say about 2 ft across at the face. and was a dmx effect... you could only do short bursts with it because of a heat problem would do a auto shut down on the unit.. it was nice for an effect such as lightning in the distance... will be using this with the drama dept of the church....
