lighted dance floors

In an episode of Discovery Channel's "Monster House" when they're building a disco house, you can see the Control Pack for an ADJ Light Copilot ready to be installed as the chase controller for the lighted floor.

American DJ are you going to answer to this or not??????????

We have no production plans for any type chasing dance floor segments. The price for a realistic size dance floor would not be within reach of most DJ companies. There would be a small niche market with contractors. A dance floor arrangement, if not made correctly (cheaply) would be a GIANT liability.

im not really talking about a real dance floor. Im talking about something like 8 lights colored of corse and a small chase controller. Or DMX controllable. Something small like a platform.

i have seen some sort of fiber-optic floor covering thing, i don't remeber who it's by. try a search.

you can make a great lit dance floor but it wont be portable nor inexpensive. Think of it, how would you make a floor that could hold a ton(2000lbs) of people and make it portable and inexpensive? Some company has made a lit dance floor, they sell them in 18' squares, around 300 each so for a 20X20 dance floor that's $3600.00. I would rather have an intelligent light show with trussing for that price.

Im not really talking about a huge dance floor. Im talking about a platform type of thing!!! You know if you would think about it you could do it. Im also not talking about a whole dance floor that is 20 by 20 im just talking about a portable dance floor that holds 3 to 6 people.

You could make one easily one your own...

Actually, with the new LED technology, isn't this more possible? I've seen tubes, spheres and cubes. Why not an LED panel? Not sure how much weight you could put on it, but...

I think that something like this could get kids at school dances on the floor and dancing. When I do my school dances the kids just stand and sit and talk. Some dance but not many. With something that they can dance on and have flashing lights under them I think that it is a great Idea. I dont mean a big dance floor that is 300-400 pounds just something that is linkable and small you know. Like 4x4 or 4x8 or 2x8 platforms. Nothing big just something that the kids or teens or adults can hop on and dance a little bit more have and have more fun. I think that American Dj could do this with regular light bulbs and using LED's with this. The posibilities are endless with LED.
