Hi Everyone
Equipment sellers please comment.

I’m looking to set up lights for a small 11 X 12 Dance Floor, which is right in front of a small 10 X 9 Stage.
I want the lights to come across as spectacular even though the floor is small.
The ceiling is 9 ½ feet high and control for everything will be located behind a bar.

I know I want a 16” disco ball. In thinking 2 American DJ Scan Trons 250, and two Spectron LED’s
Also a DMX Fog machine.

I already have a Scene 24 DMX controller with 8 channels in use for special effects elsewhere.

Should I be looking at 4 trons instead of 2. Is this setup an overkill or can I actually ad more and come out better yet.

Thanks in advance for comments.
Seller please quote prices if you desire.

hey Ddancers, welcome to the forums. I'm not a seller but I can give some advice. My opinion is the more the better. You can have as many lights as budget will allow and IF it is overkill, who said you have to use them ALL at the SAME time. Say you have 2 of light A and 2 of light B and 4 of light C. you can have a scene using all of lights A and C but your next scene you can use light B and have a totally different setting. You wouldn't even recognize the rig if you use it right. The more the merrier.

Also, I'm not sure if these forums allow sellers to quote prices but wait for word from a higher up official. Good luck!

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: A lesser quantity of lights can't be as effective as a greater quantity of THE SAME light. If your budget allows, I would get 4 but you will be perfectly fine with 2 for that size. There are just a lot more opportunities with 4 trons than 2. Now you can get 2 trons and a couple of other lights and it would be more effective (depending on the other lights you get) but 2 trons wont be as effective as 4. I'm not saying that 2 trons won't work because they will work great, just not as great as 4 would. Make sense???

Good logic - I didn't know if in a very small area the lighting effects of four would wash out from the cross over lap being so close.
Sort of not being able to see the tree, because of the forest.

Of the Scan 250 series is there much difference in the dynamics of the Delux - HP - and – Trons? The obvious reason to ask is price difference. However I don’t want to be disappointed due to a few hundred dollars so I’m asking which will dazzle more.

Also has anyone worked with an area this small, if so what did you use.

Thanks Again

hey Ddancers, sorry no one has replied to this question. I have never worked with an area this small. I only have the DJ scan 250 and i am fairly satisfied with them. They could be better but hey you get what you pay for don't you? I don't think it will wash out anything too much but don't hold me too that. Sorry again!
