All of my DMX lights have the usual DMX in/DMX out ports. A majority of them also have linkable power, to minimize the need to run extension cords, for example:

It has the standard power in outlet, and then a power out outlet that allows another light to plug into.

Here's my problem: I have an American DJ Reflex LED DMX light. This also has the power in/power out feature. However, the power out is not a standard outlet, but it is a female version of the power-in plug. Whats the name of the cable that I need? Basically with the female head on one end, and the male on the other.

Thanks,
Andy

The male plug on the fixture is an IEC-14 plug. The female plug which plugs into that male is known as an IEC-13 connector. The female plug on the fixture doesn't have a name because its not part of the standard. The reason they make that plug female, however, is so you don't electrocute yourself and/or someone and/or damage the fixture, or fixtures if they are chained together. You will short it out if it is male. Rule of thumb with electric is never leave male ends exposed, which is why it is wired that way.

Anyway, I believe AMDJ makes the cable you are looking for. Contact a dealer about it and they should be able to order you some or maybe contact service and they can ship some to you.
Thanks a bunch for all your help folks!!

1 more question...well, for tonight anyways =P

Some of my DMX don't have the power link option (power-out plug), such as the 800w ADJ Mega-Flash strobe. I figure its because it probably uses a lot of power itself. Is it safe to plug this strobe into the power outlet of one of my led lights, say the Reflex? Or is it more recommended that the strobe be plugged straight into the surge protector power strip?

What about a 250w moving head? Safe to plug into an LED figure or is plugging into the power strip recommended?

Thanks,
Andy
I would home run everything but other LED's with that power link. It is most certainly not rated to handle that much, even the 250w mover.

This is not to say you can't plug the LEDs and the strobe or the mover into the same outlet, just don't use the link for anything but LEDs, namely the same type of fixtures. In your manuals, I wouldn't but surprised if it states a limit as to how many you can actually link out.
