Hey..Kyle here,
Like I said before I am really new to this. I need help. Me and my cousin can't figure out the difference between a chaser and the light controller. Can you help us out? What's the chaser for? Can you use the chaser to just plug the lights in so you can turn them on and off? Do you have to get something different to control it? HELP! Razzer

hey kyle.
ok, a chaser is simply a self-contained controler. but it is a very simple one. all it has is usually four channels(separate places to plug lights in that all work indepentdently) that the music controls and makes them chase. lets say you have four par cans hooked up to a chasser, and you plug each into one of the four channels, then turn the chasser on and it chasses through the channels...so if ya line the lights up in the correct order then the lights apear to be "chassing"
for controllers, what kind of controller do you mean...DMX or Analog?
hope this helps

haha its ok, DMX is not the easiest to understand. DMX stands for digital multiplex. ok to start out, each inteligent lighting fixture(inteligent meaning it can work with DMX)has a certain number of DMX channels that it uses, one channel for each movement. example: a channel for the pan...and channel for the tilt...and channel for the shutter...a channel for the color wheel...a channel for the gobo wheel. so lets say your light has 6 dmx channels required. so then you set the proper channels to the dmx controller. there is alot more to it than this but you might sorta get some of it. try doing a search on the forum for more on dmx.
analog is much simpler. analog is simply multiple on/off switches on one controler. again to save alot of time, try doing a search on the forum for this topic.
again, i hope this helps
