Did a whole fixture set up for a Smart SSC2 and when I came to transfer it from the laptop to the main club pc it won't let me copy/paste. Instead it just defaults back to the 4 channels when you originally open it up with.

Even more annoyingly if you just drag the created fixture to a dongle then attempt to install on another pc it just won't let you and you loose all the data. It appears you have to save the whole show from the main pc to a second laptop then import then transfer again!

Also when you do a print out of the data it comes out in French despite it been set to English and it won't print in colour or print out the icons, colours or other pictures!

Wow. That's bad.

First, the MyDMX dongle is simply a hardware interface. NOTHING is stored on the dongle. If you've noticed(or maybe you haven't yet), MyDMX runs 100% functional without the hardware interface plugged into the USB port. When you don't have the hardware attached, MyDMX runs in DEMO mode, which simply means "we can't do any DMX instruction sending, but we otherwise work just fine". You do have to exit MyDMX, plug in the hardware, then launch MyDMX again. When the hardware is plugged in, MyDMX can run in USB mode, which now allows you to use the shows you created(on your laptop) to be used/played as you see fit to do so.

I think you may be confusing some issues with some older ADJ gear that connected to computers, which allowed you to load a show into a DMX-recorder/playback type device, which after being loaded up, could be used as a stand-alone device.

As far as MyDMX on 2 PC's(or more!!!), there's nothing in the license agreement that says you can't do this, so there's no license issues to be concerned about. What I would do is figure out which one is the "master" computer, and which one is a "back-up" machine. Now, assuming both are 32-bit(or 64-bit) installs, you need to copy your MyDMX show files and even the MyDMX directory from your C: drive from the master to the back-up. The reason for this is that you'll have the same profiles and other elements(such as custom objects in my case) in the proper locations. This way when you run a show and/or the 3D Visualizer, everything will be quickly located.

I've never done a print of the data, so I can't understand why it would be in French as opposed to English, especially when you set the language to English. What is it exactly you're trying to print out? As I said, I've never even tried to print anything in MyDMX.

For this one show I work on, I have my entire MyDMX data set copied onto 2 4Gig USB thumb drives, as well as copied onto 4 of the work drives associated with the show(new policy implemented this week) as well as will be copying that data to the live SHOW DRIVES(duplicates, primary and fail-over, soon to also be duplicated to 4 total drives and a second media player). I don't work on a second machine right now do to MyDMX work. If I do though, I would do the MyDMX install, the copy my MyDMX files as I just discussed, to the second machine and I should be good to go, provided of course, I choose a 32-bit machine. My main machine is 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate, while the machine I use MyDMX on is 32-bit XP Home. I do have plenty of other options around here, including other 32-bit XP machines. But I'm doing most of my video editing on the 64-bit Win machine.

Share some more information. I am a bit confused.
I have a feeling it a Vista thing. Vista hardly works with anything in any case. All it means is that I have to build the fixture on the computer at the club then save it strait to the MyDMX profile library.

I did try and save a fixture I created at home again and it won't let you save the full profile. It defaults back to the 4 channels which is not the end of the world as I am more than pleased with MyDMX.

Incidently those of you who do read this and are unable or unwilling to make fixture profile should give it a go. It's so simple with this program and it all works.
